Title: This Is Why
Summary: Zoro understands why he's still following Luffy. Can be Zolu if you squint really hard. Alabasta Arc.

Warning: Can be a bit OOC because I have no idea how to write any of the One Piece characters OTL Also, from episode 102 (filler) and after Luffy beats Crocodile and wakes up from his 3 days of sleep.
A/N: Just a short story that came to mind while I was being bored out of my wits in French class.
This Is Why

Zoro always wondered why he had followed Luffy, even though he knew since the first day they had met that the boy was just an idiot. He wondered how the boy had somehow stolen all of Zoro's loyalty. But now Zoro truly questioned his sanity along with Chopper as they watched their captain stumble behind them from fatigue and the heat of the desert sun.
The doctor slouched forward as they continued their journey to rejoin the rest of the crew.
"I wonder if I got on the wrong ship."
"What a coincidence. I was wondering the same thing a while ago." had been Zoro's reply.
.
After three long days Luffy had finally woken up from his long, needed sleep.
"Ou Zoro! Long time no see!"
Zoro sees the smile dancing across his captain's face; vibrant, brilliant, and alive.
And he understands –
though he thinks he's known all along –
that this is why.
