Disclaimer: Oh gawds. I only wish...
He would drown his pain with the blood pulsing within his veins. The blade dragged along his skin; testing, teasing.
Kaoru often wondered how it had turned out this way. Hadn't he just wished for his brother's happiness?
Hikaru. His brother. His Hikaru.
He missed the way Hikaru whispered sweet nothingness to him at night, the way his hand clamped onto his, tightening for a second of reassurance before letting go. How a single glance could say a million words.
How he was always there.
But now, the nights were silent in his empty room, his only comfort being his own muffled sobs. A glance could only show the distance between them.
And he was alone.
"I'm leaving now, Kaoru. Bye."
Damn those words that had driven him over the edge. Damn whatever scholarship had taken his only love away. Damn the girl that had stolen his brother's heart and made him realize his full potential.
Damn the world.
He couldn't believe that he could just leave him like that. He couldn't believe it -- he wouldn't believe it.
He had sifted through his emotions, grappled at his own heart. In the end, what he had found was pain. Pain and tears. And a suffocating feeling, as if he were choking.
And what he held in his hands was his shattered heart -- he had never known it to be so fragile.
The crimson slowly leaks out, quietly engulfing him. And the hands that had once held the person which he loves, now held a bloodied knife.
A/N: Go me, I managed to write something short. Sorry, I haven't been writing for very long, and I've recently been suffering from writer's block. This is my way of forcing myself out of it. Please review. :) 'Kay, thanks, bye.
P.S. - That whole 'Damn everything' rant of Kaoru's...man, get a therapist. You're rich enough, that's for sure. You don't need to use the commoner's method of cutting yourself...
