AN: First time writing a N.Y.C fan fiction, please R&R but no flames please this idea has been burning inside my head for a long time!
Written in Natsume's POV
I can't see.
I sit in my bed room, staring out of the window. Nyanko Sensei sits next to me. "Natsume, are you sure you can't see?" He meowed, licking his paws. I nodded. "I… I can't."
He frowned. "Let's try it again." Poof, the fat cat is gone, replaced by thin air. "Sensei?" I called. "Sensei, where are you?" Another poof and sensei is back next to me. He sighed. "We can't just let this be. You can't see, and this is dangerous." He said. "And you still have the Yuujincho."
I turn to look at the little harmless looking book that rests on my table. It belonged to my grandmother Natsume Reiko. I flipped through the pages, and sighed. All these names-names that belonged to spirits, harmless ones and dangerous ones. Sensei eyed the book. "If you have this book, it's too dangerous. Spirits everywhere are looking for this powerful book." I narrowed my eyes slightly. "I know… But there isn't much I could do." Sensei sat still.
Suddenly, the bell rang downstairs. "Takashi-kun, your friends are here to visit!" I heard Touko-san call from downstairs. "Coming!" I stood up. "I'll be right back."
I walked down the stairs. Touko-san smiles at me gently, and leaves to continue her work in the kitchen. I walk towards the door.
"Hi Natsume." "Natsume kun!" It is Taki and Kaname, my friends. "Oh hi Taki, Kaname." I said.
"I heard from Pontai that you can't see… Them anymore?" Kaname started, after we've came upstairs into my room. "Yeah…" I said. Stupid fat cat, why would he tell them? I don't want anyone to worry… "Natsume kun, I'm sure we can find a way…" Taki said, sensei in her arms. Sensei looks frightened-he still hasn't gotten used to be squished by Taki like that. I just nodded slightly.
Sensei managed to wriggle out of Taki's arms and sat on the floor, chewing on some biscuits.
"We don't even know why he can't see anymore." Sensei said, his mouth full. "Sensei! Don't talk with your mouth full! You're just spraying crumbs everywhere!" I cried, picking up crumbs from the floor. Touko san cleans my room, and I don't want to bring any trouble.
Taki and Kaname just laughed. "Oi! Humans! Don't laugh at me!" Sensei screeched, furious. I started to laugh too, seeing his fur sticking out in all directions. The sun is setting, and I don't know what will come along in the night. But with my friends by my side, everything will be okay, right?
