AN: AnonymousNavi's long waited request. Thanks for waiting so long!
Reminder: It's childhood time, before Hizashi died. And it's slight NaruHina, not NejiHina. Neji and Hinata are just acting as close cousins.
What is it about the play park near our residence that I enjoy...? Is it the bed of flowers grown-ups take time to plant every spring? Or perhaps the laughter of children my age? Maybe it's - hey...
That boy Hinata-sama is playing with...who is he? That blonde boy with the painted whiskers...
I scratch my chin, wondering if I know of anyone of that kind, but soon give up.
If I can say so myself, I'd think that Hinata-sama actually likes this boy a little. If you could be here right now, you could plainly see that she is not herself when this child touches her arm.
"Hinata's cousin!" That guy yells to me. "Wanna play with us?" I shake my head and glance at the flower beneath my shoe. Later, I could hear him telling Hinata-sama, "Hey, well, I think I have to go right now. B-but, I'll be here sometime tomorrow. You think you will too?" She nods her head, like it belongs to a bobble head doll, which is very unlike her. He waves goodbye to her and runs off, as she walks over to me and sits on the stone like I do. It gets quiet between us, almost like an awkward silence, so I say something.
"...Charming boy, isn't he?" I swing my feet and lean back. I automatically notice she refuses to say anything. "What's that boy's name?" She looks surprised at that question, like I plan on assassinating him.
"N-Naruto, Neji-nii-san," she says quietly. "Uzumaki Naruto."
"Oooh-zuu-maah-kii? I have never heard of such a surname. Is he your age?" I feel like I'm asking too many unnecessary questions. She slightly nods downward, then back up again. "That's good. Are you going to play with him tomorrow, too?" She does her nod thing a second time. "You promised that we can play together tomorrow, though. Are you going to just..."
"Neji-nii-san! I'm sorry! I forgot! I-I'll tell him right away!" She runs off all panicky, but I catch her wrist. "B-but I must!" I smile at her.
"Play with him tomorrow. I know you like him lots, anyway. Besides, we can hang out another time, can't we?" She flushes as I stand up. "C'mon. Hiashi-sama is expecting us home by now."
