Well, That was Easy

Well, That was Easy.

Have you ever noticed that many of the problems faced by SG-1 have simple, direct solutions? Naturally they can't use them, because the plot would be over in five minutes and they'd need forty minutes of filler. Here's what happens when they take the easy way out.

1. Unending

"So what, we're stuck here?"

Sam looked down a moment, in the way she does before giving bad news. "I'm afraid so. We can't launch the 302's. We can't move or escape. If we shut off the time dilation field we'll all be killed, and even if we did escape they can track us as long as the Asgard computer core is online."

Daniel looked up. "Can you…I don't know, unplug the core? Without power it doesn't give off a signature right?"

"That…could work. I'd need some time to figure out how to disconnect the core. Call it two weeks?"

"Take all the time you need, Colonel." Said Gen. Landry, "We seem to have plenty of it. But that doesn't solve our immediate problem. How do we get out of here?"

Cam looked thoughtful. "Hey Sam, we took on a couple of Ori ships just to get here, and we look some pretty punches for it. Couldn't we just fix the shields, take the hit, and shoot at them til they stop exploding?"

"It'd take a little more time. We'd have to 'unplug' the Asgard core after we were done. I can write a program onto a crystal, but it'll take longer than just pulling all the crystals now."

"Well then," Landry again. "Take all the time you need, the rest of us will get caught up on our paperwork."

One Month (0.00000001 seconds) Later

Random Prior #8 leaned forward a little to stare at the viewscreen. It had cost two ships and thousands of lives, but he finally had the Unbelievers where he wanted them. Right in the path of the god's Cleansing Fire. The small Tau'ri craft was crippled, defenseless. Its destruction would be but a small payment to the Tau'ri for the grief they caused the Righteous. That destruction would come in a moment, when the God's Fire… splashed over perfectly functional shields. What?

The smaller craft pivoted and drove straight at the larger, firing pale blue beams that rivaled the power of the Fire. Fearlessly it charged and a second shot of the Fire made its shields glow. The Prior's mind clawed at the ship but there was no time for thought, no time even for reflex. Even as the fireball reached to claim him, he smiled. Knowing he would join the Ori in enlightenment. Then he, and the mighty ship he commanded, was gone.

"Well, that was easy." Daniel looked out the viewport.

"Yeah, for a minute there, I thought we'd really be stuck on this ship for the rest of our lives." Mitchell looked down a moment, and then grinned at Daniel. "Real earth food, not an Asgard's idea of earth food. You know you wanna."

"Yeah, Yeah I do." The two friends walked off to break open a previously hoarded box of cookies. Cookies make even the closest of calls all better.
