It was a rainy day. The soft patter of drops on the roof soothed the young woman sitting in the armchair with her feet propped up. Her grey eyes skimmed over the pages of a book. It was a fascinating book, one that her good friend had lent her. The Diary of Anne Frank.
The front door opened and a man entered the house, breathing heavily and soaking wet. "Ludwig," the woman looked up from her book. "How was your run?" She smiled at him. His sky blue eyes caught the title of the book and quickly looked away. "The rain kept blinding me." The woman stood, setting the book on the coffee table. She went to the hall closet and retrieved a towel. She began drying him off. "Be quiet, your dogs are napping."
Suddenly, he wrapped his arms around her. "Heidi," he murmured, burying his face in her curly hair. "That's a sad book you're reading." She knew he was feeling guilty. She pulled him close. "It wasn't your fault, Luddy. You did what you were ordered. No one can blame you for that." Ludwig released her, holding her loosely. "How can you forgive me for what I've done? All the world hated me, but you never batted an eye."
She smiled at him, that sweet smile he loved so much. "Because I know your heart, Ludwig. What happened was not your fault. Doting on the past is not good. We must focus on the future." He kissed her forehead tenderly. She stood on her toes and kissed him sweetly. "I've made some cake. Would you like some?" "Ja, please." He watched her go into the kitchen while he stripped out of his wet clothes. He went upstairs to put on some dry ones.
She sliced some cake, listening to the patter of the rain on the roof. She knew that the big storm was over; the thunder had stopped long ago. After the rain would be a rainbow with a blue sky and pretty wildflowers to pick and put in a jar on the windowsil. The thought pleased her.
Strong arms wrapped around her from behind. "That smells fantastic, leibe." He murmured, resting his chin on her shoulder. She handed him the plate, a dessert fork, and a glass of milk. "Good. It's still warm. Hurry up and eat. I'll run you a warm bath. It wouldn't be good if you caught a cold."
He caught her hand before she left the kitchen. "Heidi," he paused, seeming nervous. She looked up at him, "yes?" He pulled her to him and knelt in front of her. "I know I cant grow old with you; I can't grow old at all, but if I were to grow old with someone, it would be you. I can't marry you, but if I could, I would be asking. Will you stay with me forever?"
He loved the way her face lit up when she said yes.
Yooooo, author-chan here! I take requests of pairings (bxb, gxg, bxg, and triangles/squares etc are all allowed). I don't do reader inserts but if you want to give me an OC I'll use that instead! Also I enjoy criticism! Carry on.
