Summary: When he hears her voice on the Wireless, he sees her destiny.
Voice Alone
When he hears her voice on the Wireless, he sees her destiny.
It's different from Kara's. Mechanical, almost, veering only into passion in the face of disaster. But what he hears in her voice fills the empty days of listening, waiting for the Plan to finish.
She will be loved.
When she is not on New Caprica, he knows that she chose Adama. It doesn't matter which. And he has other things to worry about. Every time Kara kills him, he dreams of a dispassionate voice calling him home across the stars.
She will be lost.
After Earth that wasn't, Earth that burned, he wishes he'd watched more closely. She was never his to watch, for all he heard and thought about the body that matched the voice. Thought about the soul that matched the body.
She will be forgotten in the splendour to come.
He starts religions everywhere he goes. He can't help it. His favourite myth is of a woman, calling her people back from the void. The hybrids never came to Earth, and neither did she, but that didn't stop him from loving her.
Her destiny is empty.
This is something that he never believes, no matter how many times he hears it.
