The night if the Yule Ball, Jude Morris had one goal in mind; make Draco Malfoy jealous. They dated for a bit a month or two prior to the ball, nothing too serious. When they were alone, Draco was the sweetest person she'd ever met. When they were around other people, however, he treated her like he treated all the other Gryfindors. Like trash. So she broke up with him.
Now she was at the ball, looking the prettiest she ever had her whole life. Jude had on a floor length purple dress with black mesh over it. It was form fitting up until the bottom of her calves, then it had a mermaid effect. The back of the dress was tied up like a corset. On her feet were a pair of matching colored high heels that were about five inches tall. Her usually curly blond hair that would reach a bit down her back was now straightened and just touched her waist. The girls make up was simple. Carefully applied foundation, cat winged eyeliner, and a touch of red of lipstick.
Through the whole night, she practically danced with everyone. In fact, it seemed that the only person she didn't dance with was the very person she was trying to make jealous. And he was not happy to discover this. Secretly, Draco still fancied and cared about Jude very much. He just had no clue how to properly show it. He'd never felt that way about anyone before. Instead of going up to her and apologizing, then maybe asking her to dance, he just stood in the corner and watched with envy as she smiled and laughed with every other male student at Hogwarts
Toward the end of the party, the two somehow managed to bump into each other in the hallway awkwardly. Jude stumbled a bit, about to loose her balance. Draco saw her beginning to fall and grabbed her hand and pulled her up and, in the process, into his chest. They looked at each other silently and didn't move a muscle. Draco smiled at her a little bit.
"You okay?" He asked
Jude cleared her throat and looked away from him, "Yeah, I'm fine. ... Draco?"
"Yes?"
"Why do you do that?" She asked, looking back at him. Draco could see just a twinge of pain in her eyes, his stomach dropping to his feet when he did. "Why are you nice to me when were alone, but you're so mean to me when other people are around?"
He hesitated a moment, trying to think of how to best say what he was thinking. "Because I've never felt this way about anyone before. I don't know what to do."
"Do this." Jude said, "Treat me like how you feel about me."
So he kissed her. That's what she told him to do, right? Weather it was or not, he held her waist and pressed his lips against hers. Jude was taken aback a bit. They'd never kissed before. But she didn't mind. After all, she still had feelings for him. Strong feelings. Her arms wrapped themselves around his neck as she kissed him back. All of Jude's Gryfindor friends watching had a bitter sweet feeling in the pit of their stomachs. Of course they were happy for her, she really fancied the blonde boy. But they just didn't want her to get hurt.
But she didn't get hurt. Jude and Draco continued to date all throughout Hogwarts. Once the war had started, they lied about breaking up to keep the other one safe. A few years after the war they got married. Through the years they had two kids, a boy and a girl. Their daughter was sorted into Slytherin when she went to Hogwarts. Two years later, their son was sorted into Gryfindor. They truly were an odd family. But none of that mattered to them. They were happy and that was that.
