Doyle's arms were filled with the numerous stuffed animals he had won for his girlfriend, who had cheered him on as he tried to win the best prizes at every game. Time after time he had succeeded, but there was one game that he had not yet conquered: the bell ring.
"Alright, Genevieve, this is how it's done" Doyle boasted, depositing the toys on the ground in front of his girlfriend. She watched eagerly as he rolled up his sleeves and grabbed the hammer. With a loud grunt, he lifted the hammer and brought it down hard on the target, sending the little metal ball soaring upward. Despite his great strength, the ball only made it half way up the pole to the line that read "Gettin' there".
"Sorry Gen. I've tried so many times, but I can never ring the stupid bell!" he groaned, disappointed with himself. Genevieve glanced over at him mischievously, a sly grin on her face.
"I bet I can ring it" she stated, confident in her strength.
"Are you sure? I've never seen a girl actually ring the bell before. Not that I'm saying you can't, but you-"Doyle was silenced as Genevieve kissed him.
"Move over, big man." She strode past him, the hammer hanging loosely from her hand. She stepped up to the target, preparing herself. With a sigh followed by a mighty swing, the slender woman sent the ball all the way to the top, the metallic sound of the bell ringing through the carnival. The look on her boyfriend's face was one of bewilderment, the man captivated by her strength. She claimed her prize, which was a huge stuffed shark, and added it to her pile on the ground.
"I can do anything I put my mind to" Genevieve said, flicking Doyle's nose playfully.
"Come on, you've gotta build up those muscles if you ever wanna ring the bell!" she said cheerfully, forcing Doyle to carry all the stuffed animals around by himself.
"Can't you just carry one for me?" he whined, barely able to see over the stack of toys. Genevieve plucked a tiny stuffed dog out of the pile, and placed it in her purse.
"Okay! That should lighten the load." Genevieve walked ahead proudly, the degraded man following her obediently.
