Summary: For the Winchesters, losing each other isn't always about dying.
Then
Sam without a soul doesn't sleep, and it creeps Dean out. He leaves Sam in their room and finds the nearest bar. If he's drunk enough he might be able to return, crash out for a while. Though he's always much too aware of the terrible absence that sits in the shape of his brother on the other bed.
Now
Sam hunts. The terror of what he will find when he catches up with his demon brother is ever present, but he ignores it as best he can.
When he finally looks into those beetle-black eyes, Dean isn't there.
