Emma tossed and turned. She couldn't get away from the voice.
"Just leave them, do it on your own, dearie. It'll get you to Merlin a lot quicker without the baggage."
Emma shoved the pillow over her head, hoping to ignore the voice.
It had been trying to persuade her to leave all night.
As the voice continued on, she all of a sudden bolted upright.
"Oh, finally listening to me I see, eh?"
Emma got up, tiptoed out into the hallway, and entered the room next door silently.
She saw the rise and fall of Hook's chest and sighed with relief. The dark voice followed right until she was next to the bed.
Slipping underneath the covers beside him, she curled into him.
The voice was gone.
Though she couldn't really sleep as the Dark One, she'd be happy to lay with Killian all night just to keep the voice away. Everyone needs a little break. Without that break, she'd give in.
Killian's voice, rough from sleep, broke the silence. "Love? Emma? Are you alright?"
"Fine. Just go back to sleep."
"You're here in the dead of night. Talk to me." Killian begged.
Her voice took was just above a whisper. "I just…the voice goes away when I'm with you. Henry too."
Killian pulled her into him and drifted back off.
Maybe she could handle this Dark One thing. With her loved ones by her side, maybe she could handle everything.
