One morning at the apartment, Clifford was the first one to wake up. He went to the kitchen to eat his breakfast, but Emily Elizabeth was not in the kitchen. Her parents are out for the week. So, he went back to the room to get Emily. By the time he got there, Emily was not in bed. Clifford knew that Emily Elizabeth always wake him up before going anywhere. He went to Daffodil.

Clifford said, "Hey, Daffodil, are you awake?"

Daffodil yawn and said, "Well, I am now."

Clifford said, "Emily Elizabeth is not home. Neither is her parents. Her backpack is still here and her shoe are still at the door."

Daffodil said, "She is probably down at the basement."

Clifford said, "But she never go anywhere without waking me up first."

Daffodil said, "Well, I'll feed you. Come on."

So Daffodil took Clifford to the kitchen. When they got to the fridge, it was empty.

Clifford gasped and said, "Where the food? It gone."

Daffodil said, "Oh dear. I guess they ran out."

Clifford said, "But I need to eat something."

Daffodil said, "Don't worry Clifford. When Emily gets back, she'll give us something to eat."

Clifford said, "I hope so."

So Clifford and Daffodil waited for Emily Elizabeth to get back, but she been gone for hours. It was past lunch time. Clifford was about to go crazy, but he was calm. He went to Daffodil.

Clifford said, "Daffodil, are you here?"

Clifford saw Daffodil feeling sick.

Clifford said, "Daffodil, are you okay?"

Daffodil groan and said, "My stomach. I haven't ate a single carrot."

Clifford said, "There had got to be something to eat in this house."

Clifford went to Jorge, Flo, and Zo apartment, but they weren't home. Soon, in the evening, Clifford was feeling so hungry than ever. His stomach was eating himself and he can't move.

Clifford said, "Daffodil, we haven't seen Emily Elizabeth since this morning."

Daffodil said, "I know. Where could she be?"

Clifford said, "If we don't eat something soon, I'm gonna die."

Soon Clifford looked at Daffodil and he saw her as a food. Daffodil did the same thing.

Clifford said, "Hmm, a chocolate bunny."

Daffodil said, "Hmm. a juicy tomato."

Both Clifford and Daffodil were craving and staring at each other. Pretty soon, they snapped as they started to attack each other. Soon, Daffodil grabbed Clifford by the leg.

Clifford shouted.

Daffodil said, "MUAHAHAHAHAHHAAA! Down to papa."

Before Daffodil ate Clifford, they heard the door rang. Clifford and Daffodil rush to see who it is. They saw Emily Elizabeth.

Clifford said, "It Emily Elizabeth."

Emily Elizabeth said, "Oh my gosh I almost forgot to feed you. I am so sorry. Here go you."

Emily gave Clifford a juicy bone and gave Daffodil a crispy carrot.

Emily Elizabeth said, "I didn't know why I forget. I hope you two can forgive me."

Clifford and Daffodil purrs between Emily's leg.

Emily Elizabeth said, "Aw, thanks you. Well, I gotta get ready for bed."

Daffodil said, "Clifford, I just wanna say I'm sorry for what I did."

Clifford said, "It okay Daffodil. I knew we were going crazy over hunger."

Daffodil said, "Well, thank Clifford."

Clifford said, "No problem."

Clifford and Daffodil hugged each other and went to bed.
