His eyes spring open, and he's in the searing darkness; abandoned by his heart and his world and his mind.

Xigbar screams and it's lost in the vacuum tearing his insides apart.

A woman and child smile merrily as though from before a camera, and continue to do so even after their flesh is melted away by the nuclear wind.

Vexen checks, double, and triple checks the pulsing hearts floating in glass beakers, carving the readings into his flesh.

The sky is falling, and Lexaeus can no longer hold it up.

Zexion tries to hide from the thousand faces watching out of blood-spattered mirrors. Somehow, they always manage to find him.

Saix runs as though traveling through syrup, fleeing his own beastly shadow.

Axel, too, finds himself sprinting in his dreams, though he runs through a hellfire of his own creation, lost and alone.

Demyx looks into the glassy surface of the lake. A twisted grin stares back from just beneath the surface.

Luxord watches as the timepiece swings before his nose, the minute hand erasing each of the thirteen numerals as it travels over them again and again. He can't make it stop. He can't look away.

Marluxia doesn't sleep at all. The only monster in his dreams is real.

Nightmares don't frighten Larxene. What does is the satisfaction she feels after seeing herself rent bloodily in two.

Roxas sleeps merrily, dreaming of peaceful beaches and friends and his heart thumping healthy and whole in his chest.

A/N: Ok! So... if you hop over to the FFXII section, an amazing author by the name of Mithrigil made a piece about the characters of said game, like what they would have nightmares about. It was amazing.

So I, in my paltry, insignificant self and suffering from a horrible case of writer's block on Between the Silences, decided to try it. I'll probably make it even more dark and eerie later, but I like it as is.
