First Fanfic story. please review. If its liked I'll continue the story.

"You love me. Real or not real?" Peeta whispers in fading light of District 12.

"Real." I sigh taking a deep breath. Its been a year since Peeta returned to District 12, but we still continue to ask this same question, reassuring ourselves that it's still real, that we still have each other to count on.

Peeta smiles swings my arm, my hand in his as we wander back from the new town center, pausing for a moment to wave to a grumpy Haymitch. I sometimes feel jealous of Peeta and his happiness, how can he continue on with life when all I feel is anger?

I push the door to our house open and immediately stride over to the couch and collapse the exhaustion from the day catching up with me. "Want something to eat?" Peeta pipes cheerfully from the kitchen, where he feels most at ease creating an assembly of baked goods for the little community of district 12.

I answer him with a grunt, placing both hands over my face trying to block the memories of the war that constantly try to invade my thoughts. I should attempt to be sweeter to Peeta, his kindness has always been greater then my own. I focus on returning to my thoughts.

My name is Katniss Everdean. I am back in District 12. I have survived. I love Peeta Mellark. I should be happy, I am happy.

I force myself to my feet and return to the kitchen, planting a kiss on Peeta's cheek before washing the dirt off my hands. Peeta hums a little tune while he is elbow deep in flour, kneading his bread. As I begin to clean a rabbit that I had snared today I struggle to find a conversation starter. "So what did you do today?" I question Peeta.

"Well, do you remember that nurse, Tara, the government sent out here?" Peeta asked not bothering to wait for a response he continued, "She married Jared last fall? I made a cake for the little celebration they had? Well she came in today looking quite," Peeta paused momentarily, I looked back at him expecting him to finish his story about his day in the small bakery at Greay Sae's.

"She came in and what?" I asked. Peeta's blue eyes danced, indicating he was excited about something.

"…quite pregnant." He continued.

I raised my eyebrows in question. A baby in district 12, and it dawned on me that the people of District 12 haven't heard a baby's cry since before the Quarter Quell. "I guess life does go on," I remarked sadly, turning toward Peeta, where I was met with face to face with him. He wrapped his strong arms around my enveloping me in a comforting hug. With Peeta that's all I need, even when it feels like the world is still falling apart around me, I find comfort in those hugs. I snuggle in closer taking in the smells the bakery left on him from a day of baking bread. "I'm happy for her, I am" I said with a half smile.
