Hey everyone! I'm back~

So, while I was bored and on Tumblr (I know, I know) I found myself addicted to the Mavis/Zeref pairing, I think they might actually become my new OTP, well, besides NaLu, nothing beats NaLu.

Anyways, I was like, you know what, screw this. Let's write a whole new story while we're at it and hopefully I won't have any writer's blocks along the way, LET'S GO!

And by the way, I don't own Fairy Tail. If I did, everyone would've been paired up by now. Yeah. I'm crazy. Oh! And Zeref wouldn't be evil, he'd be with Mavis and they'd be really happy. :).

Of Monsters and Men

Mavis heaved a happy sigh as she dangled her legs like a child from a tree overlooking Fairy Tail's hotel for the Grand Magic Games. She turned her face to the sky and stared silently. Lumen Histoire… she could feel it. It would be important soon enough.

"First?"

Mavis blinked out of her trance. She looked over to see a small, old man standing on the roof of the hotel, "Third!"

Makarov strolled over to where the roof met the branch of the tree, a serious look marring his already heavily wrinkled and scarred face.

"So," he began, "Lumen Histoire. You can feel it too, can't you First? That it will be important soon?"

"Yes."

The old man paused, unsure of what to say. He was talking to a woman who looked much younger than him, younger than Wendy, even. And yet, she'd been dead for almost four centuries. A silence stretched between them, threatening to snap at any second, so he broke the silence with an awkward, "Are-are you alright?"

Mavis was silent for a bit, still staring at the full moon until finally she replied, "Yes. I'll be fine. I already know what the future holds for us all."

Third glanced at First questioningly, nervously, "Do you know if…?"

Again, First had only one word for him, "Yes."

He stopped questioning her.

Then, there was another silence. But the silence was soon broken by the arguments of a certain ice mage and fire dragonslayer. Bangs and crashes soon followed, and tailing behind them a string of curses and screeches.

Makarov sighed fondly, "I'll have to go stop those brats now." As he turned to leave, he looked one last time to Mavis, "Good night, First."

Then he disappeared into the darkness.

Mavis smiled secretly to herself, "You know, he only acts annoyed with them. But when the time comes, he really does love them, doesn't he?"

Mavis turned her face back up to the sky, one thing on her mind, Does he know that I'm still here?

She shook her head, berating herself for thinking such foolish thoughts, but even as she did, she thought about how even after all these years, she still hadn't forgotten about him. He'd been on Tenroujima, he couldn't possibly not have noticed her. She sighed a half sob; they were such a sad, sad pair, weren't they?

Mavis heard the distinct sound of clink! Clink! In the distance. She turned her head to see an armor-clad scarlet haired mage walking down the road towards Fairy Tail's hotel. As soon as the redhead had entered the hotel, masculine shouts turned into squeals not unlike those that a little girl would make upon seeing something that scared them. She heard a few almost inhuman roars and the laughter ensued.

You were like that too, weren't you? Always so tough but cared so much. It's been so long. Mavis thought sadly as she closed her eyes to hide the moistness she felt on her eyes.

Hasn't it, Zeref?
