Author's Note: My first try at poetry. Hope you like it!

You left me when I needed you

I tried to get you to stay

I had to fight the urge to follow you, too

Please, keep me from joining the fray.

I wait for you to return

I wait all night and day

I watch the candles burn

From December to May

You left me

When I needed you most

I can't even pay the fee

For the child when you left the post

She will grow up

Knowing only war and pain

I help her with her cup

As she sits in the rain

Please, my child, grow and thrive

Like the desert's burning sun

My little Anna; stay alive

Just don't run

Your father won't come back

The war rages on

He was one of the pack

That's why we moved to Taiwan

Live my child

Live and shine

Don't be mild

Be a thriving plant; not a vine

I have only one question to ask

What happened to the old days?

Why did we change our ways?

It's like we're in a mask

Author's Note: The final sentence is referencing to covering up true
feelings. Yuugi died a while back. Anzu has never gotten over it. The
child mentioned in the story is a figment of an insane Anzu's imagination.
Anna doesn't exist. Basically, Anzu went insane after Yuugi's death and
started imagining that she had a child named Anna.
