She Is Love.
She is love
And she is all I need.
Rachel stood in the doorway of Joey's bedroom, smiling to herself as she watched him sleep. His hair was sticking up in every direction, one of his legs hanging off the bed and the other tucked into his blanket. Hugsy was tucked tightly in his arms, and she couldn't help but laugh at the sight of this 33-year-old man who looked like a child.
She slowly moved towards his bed, climbing in next to him and gently taking Hugsy from his arms. She breathed a sigh of relief when he didn't wake up, and she rolled over to face him, snuggling into his chest.
"Rach?"
Crap. She slowly opened her eyes to look up at him, her lips curling up into a small smile. "Sorry. I was trying not to wake you up."
Joey shook his head, pulling her closer and wrapping his arms around her waist. "S'okay." He closed his eyes again, his head resting on top of hers.
"Joey?"
"Mmm?"
Rachel paused, playing with a loose thread on her shirt. "Never mind." She snuggled deeper into his chest, closing her eyes.
"No, Rach. What were you going to say?"
Rachel opened her eyes again, but avoided eye contact. She traced the patterns on the blankets, hesitating. "What's your favorite thing about me?"
Joey groaned, his eyes still closed. "Rach, it's way too late for this." He tightened his grip on her, playing with her hair with one hand and rubbing her arm with the other. "Well, I just figured out my least favorite thing about you."
Rachel frowned, smacking his shoulder. "Joey."
Joey looked down at her, kissing the top of her head. "Everything."
"Be more specific."
Joey sighed, pulling her closer. "Your smile. I don't know what I would do if I didn't get to see that smile every day. And your eyes. They're so big and bright and blue. I love that you always put your friends before yourself. I love how brave you are, starting a whole new life with five people you hardly knew. I love that you're so emotional, because I love being the one to hold you when you cry, even though I hate it when you cry more than anything. I love that you…" He trailed off, feeling her steady breathing and noticing that she was asleep. He kissed the top of her head again, smiling to himself.
He pulled her closer. "I love you." He whispered. And as he held her as close as he possibly could, he couldn't think of anyone better to fall asleep in his arms every night.
This may be the shortest thing I've ever written. Ever. But I'm pretty happy with it, and hopefully you guys are too. (:
