Sakura Haruno ogled Naruto Uzumaki slump down on the couch with yet another cup of Ramen. He sighed and began munching down on the noodles and slurping down the broth.
"God, Naruto-kun… It's been fifteen years since you started eating that crap. How can you not be sick of it?"
Naruto glanced up at her and shrugged, noodles threatening to slip out from his mouth. "I can't help it, Sakura-chan. It's so good. Besides, what does it matter," he asked, mumbling. "It's not like I'm hurting anyone by eating it.
Sakura shook her head in disbelief. She, Naruto, and Sasuke had been friends and teammates since they were fourteen. When they weren't on a mission, they rarely saw Naruto without a cup of ramen in his hand. They were thirty now, and Naruto still succumbed to that habit. She walked over to him and sat next to him. "Naruto, do you know how much sodium is in that? That's causing a ton of damage to your liver and kidneys. It's a wonder you haven't passed a stone or something."
Naruto chortled. "Where did you hear that? That's funny." He turned and faced her. "I'll be fine, dude. Nothing's happened to me so far, and nothing's going to happen now." He returned to his food.
Sakura sighed. "Well, I should get going. Sasuke wanted me to meet him at work, and I haven't started dinner for him yet." She began to stand up and walk out the apartment, but Naruto halted her.
"Well… there is this one thing about ramen that scares me a little."
She pivoted and sat herself down next to him once more. "What is it?"
He put the now finished cup and looked down. "I had a dream the other night. It was horrible. I was walking down this forest, and I saw this feast. It was awesome! It was all this food and all different kinds of ramen were there and they all had my name on the cups. There was a sign there saying 'Welcome home, Naruto'. So, naturally, I went over there and started eating all of it. Everything was going good. I even invited you, Hinata, and Ino to celebrate with me… but when I was on my third cup, I heard this deep, ominous voice calling me. It was saying 'Naruto Uzumaki, you have been greedy. You ate my friends. Now you will pay.' Then he…it started chasing me all through the woods while you three watched. Then he caught up to me and… he started eating me alive. It was the worst dream ever."
He glanced up at Sakura who was attempting to fight back laughter but failing miserably.
He stood up in fury. "What the hell, Sakura? It's not funny! This dream scared me!"
Sakura burst out into hysterical laughter. "A man-eating cup of ramen? Oh no! I'm so scared! I don't want to di—Naruto?"
She stopped laughing and instantly became worried when she saw Naruto clutching his stomach and bend over, emitting a scream that sent a chill down her spine. She ran over to him and set him down on the couch. His skin had turned ashen and he grimaced in pain. "Naruto, what is it? What's wrong?"
His reply was another scream. Sakura, in a frenzy, pulled out her phone and called for an ambulance.
While she was explaining what had happened, Naruto slipped off the couch and began writhing in pain.
Sakura hung up the phone, threw it on the couch, and knelt next to him. "Naruto, speak to me. What's going on? It's going to be okay. The ambulance is coming soon, just hold on."
Naruto stopped writhing and grabbed Sakura's face in his hands. "Beware… of the… wrath of Ramen…"
His hands slid from her face and fell limply on the ground. Naruto Uzumaki was dead.
Konahamaru, now a doctor, held up an X-ray photograph of Naruto's insides and compared it to a lab results paper he had just received. "Hmm… interesting."
A woeful Sakura and a solemn Sasuke looked up at him simultaneously. "What is it?"
He put them down and ushered the couple over the table. "His sodium levels are beyond skyrocketed. Not even an elephant could withstand this much sodium intake. His entire body hardened into stone. It's a miracle he stayed alive so long."
