Prologue
The hot sun glared down on the horrific battleground, shining off the bloodied steel of thousand of fallen demons. A single figure stood amid the baking, rotting flesh, knee deep in blood. Another line advanced, circled, and fell to the creature's once white claws and fangs. The war had been going for 3 years and the carnage would never wash from her hands. At 16, Kytara, the true heir to the wolf tribes, was forced into service. For three years she fought a war she wanted nothing to do with. And for three years she had never taken a strike that left her unable to fight.
This is the last time. She told herself that before ever battle, but always when called to arms, she would fight and watch as her comrades fell around her. Now after three years she was tired of fighting and on the brink of death. Her arm hung loosely by her side and her leg had a large gash across the side. A sword got into her defences leaving a slice across her side that left her breathless. Still she fought to maintain consciousness as another line advanced, and fell to her. She longed for sleep, a deep sleep that she never wanted to wake from. As the battle ended she collapsed where she stood and let the darkness take her.
"Kytara is down!"
"Are you okay? Well, I guess that was a dumb question." the voice laughed "It's ok now. I'll look after you. Just hold on a little while longer."
The hanyou cleaned her wounds and bandaged her as she slept. Her long white hair was matted with blooded and stained in spots. Her face was pale now and showed no sign of life in its angelic visage. He hoped her teal eyes would soon open and confirm that she was still among the living. Her tunic, once a glorious black crop top, was in shreds as well as her daringly low cut trousers and her shin high boots showed through the ragged garment.
"Please wake up. Just give me some sign that you are still in this world. Please just open your eyes." he pleaded softly into her ear. "We would all like to see you smile once more." He continued to clean her wounds and wash her down as she lay as still as death.
I hear a voice calling to me. Please just let me sleep a little while longer. I'll get up soon. Just wait for me.
There that is the end of the prologue. This is my first story so please bear with me. Review if you want not too sure where this is going yet.
