"Warnings": (Since this is apparently for triggery things... this is more of what to expect?) Implied cross-dressing, OOCness *only made it to Arrancar arc*, references to songs...
And yes, the main pairing is Byakuya/Renji (or vice versa, depending on the theme.) This time, it's Renji/Byakuya. Also, short oneshot (a little too long to be drabble) doesn't make sense until... I think it'll be "M".
Renji always wanted to best his captain, wanted to take the title of captain away from him. He didn't like the looks of Byakuya as soon as he saw him—it didn't help that this guy would be taking away Rukia, making her a member of a noble family.
He reached out to him, trying to surpass him, trying to make the other see that he was as powerful as he had made himself to be. If there was one thing that Renji knew, it was that he had the ability to go beyond the abilities of Byakuya Kuchiki, and that he would.
It was ironic, to him, that he had fallen for the same guy he originally hated. He hated the feeling of lust and love that welled up in him, consuming, destroying the original purpose he had. To him, defeating the Kuchiki noble was all that he wanted, was that one goal he was working towards.
It seemed useless now, trying to defeat the other when it would only pain him to see the other kneeling before him in either shame or pain. If there was a point in getting stronger, it would be to become his captain's equal. It sickened him, the consuming desire to see his captain submit to him and his disgusting wants.
He didn't want to lust for his captain, he didn't want to learn more about him (but he did at the same time), and he just wanted to shut it all out. Instead, he was left with that unfulfilled desires, and he was forced to admit that he as least lusted for Byakuya (he would never say that he was in love). It was horrible, this feeling that threatened to overwhelm him.
It didn't help that they were going to see why the people were disappearing, and that he had won—it meant that his captain would be the one to enter the maze of horror, and that he, Renji, would have to follow and make sure that his captain didn't get kidnapped by anyone other than the person that they're supposed to find.
It was a pleasant surprise, however, when his captain came out in that dress, looking much more feminine than Renji imagined. He had never imagined what Byakuya would look like as a female, but he didn't mind the view—that was, until his captain spoke up.
"Stop staring, Abarai. It's not something a Vice Captain should do." Those words immediately suppressed the images that threatened to overflow in his brain, and he was thankful for his captain's everlasting calm.
Maybe, just maybe, he could mark this as one of his victories—he had managed to keep his masculine clothes, and his captain was forced to wear that feminine clothes. He could see it as a fact—he was better than his captain at something. Though, he had to admit, that maybe luck was on his side for this one—he couldn't accept such a victory just based on luck.
That night, a hollow was born, one that was meant to be destroyed before it was born.
Maybe he hadn't reached that level that would mark him a god, but maybe, he obtained something much more meaningful that night.
