The night sky was calm and cool, and the stars shone. These quiet moments often hid the truth that lied behind these safe walls. But tonight they weren't going to worry about that. Tonight was one of their last nights together before they have to face the real, masochistic world.
James Potter was currently lying down on the grass beside the love of his life, Lily Evans. It took him six years to figure out that all she really wanted was for him to mature. And once he did, she took him in with open arms.
"Do you think we'll make it?"
This question caught him off guard. Will they make it? Is their love actually strong enough to survive the prejudices of the outside world? What was he thinking? Of course they would. After more than half a decade of chasing this girl, he would never let her go.
"Honestly, I don't know Lils. But you know what I do know? I know that I love you, and hopefully you love me back. I know that I will jump in front of the Killing Curse just for you. I know that whatever crappy day I have will always get better just by hugging you and smelling your sweet vanilla scent. I know that you are the only one I can imagine growing old and grey with. And finally, I know that you and I will never give up so easily on something so precious as this."
Lily had tears in her eyes by the end of this. She often wondered how Potter, arrogant, conceited toe-rag Potter, had turned into this brave, compassionate and loving James. She knew she loved him too; so much that it sometimes terrified her to depend on someone so badly. But one thought were on both of their minds.
No matter how bad it gets out there, with the war and deaths going on, they will always remember these cool nights out on the Quidditch Pitch in each others arms, never letting go as they stared at the starry night sky.
So how was it? Good? Bad? Review please, constructive criticism is always welcome (no flames please). :)
