We shall miss you, my love.

Dragon age one-shot. Enjoy.

Disclaimer: I don't own Dragon age, Bioware do, obviously.

Her voice still rang in my ears, her blonde curls still glittered in the sun in my mind as if she was right in front of me, that was the hardest part; she was not. She never would be again. I never knew she could sprint like that. She got to the dragon first. She was no more. Everyone knew I loved her, they expected my speech to be the most emotional, not because I was a fellow Gray Warden or because I was king. It was indeed because I loved her in fact I still love her. I hadn't had much alone time since my coronation. Now I had time to remember her, before she was buried. I would have to stare at her corpse knowing there was to be no movements. To know those strange golden eyes were never to look up at me curiously again. So many sentences ran through my mind, along with them carried memories that I would never let go:

You are a strange man.

Would you like to talk about Duncan?

Would you teach me how to be a templar?

Has anyone ever told you how handsome you are?

I think I feel the same way.

I need more testing to be sure.

Of course I remembered your special to me.

No, I have never licked a lamppost in winter.

What can I say, I'm a growing girl.

I love you.

I have never seen the inside of a cell before, very scenic.

Alistair will be king and I will rule beside him.

Alistair you know I love you. Never mind I can't do this.

I love you too.

Alistair. I would die for you.

I sat there emotionless as the door creaked open. In stepped Fergus Cousland, her loving brother. The one she wished to find. The one she never did.

"Your Majesty, may I have a word?"

"First call me Alistair and of course" I felt like I need to talk to him, I needed to tell him that Elissa loved him, that my darling Elissa loved him.

"You must have been special to her your- I mean Alistair. I remember having a conversation with her over how she never was going to get married yet you were her betrothed." Fergus said sadly.

"She loved you Fergus. She wanted to go looking for you but the horde was too large..."

"I just wanted to say, you may ask anything Alistair and I shall do it. For Elissa my wonderful sister, I'm so proud of her..." his voice trailed off but then he composed himself. "Excuse me Alistair" and then he left.

Lelianna walked in quietly, her eyes puffy and her skin pale.

"Alistair, it's time for her- you know" She looked at me and cried. Elissa was one of her best friends; Lelianna had found someone she could trust after a long time of loneliness in the chantry. Even the qunari, Sten seemed to miss the Warden. He had decided to stay for her funeral. Sten trusted Elissa too, everyone loved Elissa. Even the Witch Morrigin appeared too; but she left the night before the battle- that bitch left one of her closest friends. Elissa missed her the morning that we walked swiftly to Denerim and what hurt me the most was that she blamed herself and I didn't know why.

I stood up to go. I was to see her perfect face for the last time. But at her funeral I was to see her wishes fulfilled. She deserved more than to live in a time of despair, she was too good and pure and she deserved better than a painful death at the hands of a tainted god.
