"This is just perfect!" Barbara said, her hands flying up in distress. But she nearly ripped Ian's arm off in the process.
"Ow!"
"Sorry!"
Barbara had been rummaging in a room and had found a pair of trick handcuffs. She had shown them to Ian and Vicki, and had worked the first few times, but Vicki handcuffed Barbara to Ian, and the handcuffs didn't release.
"Do you have the key?" Ian asked.
"I didn't find one," Barbara replied.
"So we're stuck here?" Ian asked.
"Yep. We're stuck until they unlock or someone finds the key," Barbara replied.
"I'll go look!" Vicki said, and Barbara gave her directions to the room she had found the handcuffs in.
"Well, I guess we should go look for the key. Or we could ask the Doctor," Ian said.
"Where is the Doctor, anyway?" Barbara asked.
"Probably repairing something in the TARDIS," Ian replied.
"Want to go find him?"
"I suppose we should. We won't get out of these by sitting around, will we?"
Ian and Barbara went to stand up, only for the short length of the chain to keep from getting up properly. They stumbled a little but managed to get up. They walked down the corridor, listening for sounds of tinkering. They heard a crash and Barbara opened the door. Vicki's feet were poking out from under a pile of stuffed animals.
"Vicki, are you okay?" Ian asked.
"Yeah, I'm okay!" came Vicki's muffled reply.
"Found the key yet?" Barbara asked.
"Not yet!" Vicki replied.
"You'll find it somewhere, Vicki," Ian said, and the pair kept walking to find the Doctor. They heard sounds of tinkering a few feet down the hall. They went down there to investigate.
"This was much easier with Susan here," said the Doctor as he replaced a roundel cover. He turned and spotted the pair of teachers walking towards them.
"What are you two up to?" the Doctor asked.
"Looking for you," Ian said. "We've gotten ourselves in a bit of a pickle." Ian and Barbara held up their handcuffed hands.
"Ah, I see the problem!" The Doctor said. "You've found my trick handcuffs! I got hem from a man called Harry Houdini! It would seem they've rusted up a bit. I think some oil will free you from them."
"That would be lovely," Ian said.
The Doctor reached into his toolkit and handed Ian a can of WD-40.
"Spray that on the joints and pull," the Doctor said.
Ian sprayed the joints of the handcuffs and the two of them pulled outward. They sprung open.
"Thanks, Doctor," Barbara said.
"You're welcome, now leave me to my repairs!"
End.
