It's not fair, why did Spike have to die in the end?

We all know he could have been Xander's very special friend?

Why did he save Buffy in last dieing hour?

Was it because he knew he had to do so and not be sour?

Why did our dear little bad vampy boy have to die without a soul?

Was it just so fluke or something he had in control?

Was it by accident that Spike died protecting Xander, and everyone too?

Or were the creators just evil demented people that make us cry 'boo hoo'?
