"Am I cursed?"
Odin stands, frozen in place on the stairs as he watches his son holding the casket, faced away. "No."
A moment of silence, as Loki sets the relic down. "What am I?"
"You are my son."
Loki turns towards the Allfather, his skin now an icy shade of blue. His scarlet eyes wore a look of betrayal as they searched for answers in Odin's face. "What more than that?" As his skin slowly faded back to it's pale, peach color, his eyes remained fixed on those of his 'father,' unblinking. "The casket wasn't the only thing you took from Jotenheim that day, was it?" He began to walk forward, stopping just a few yards from the king's feet.
"No. In the aftermath of the battle I went into the temple, and I found a baby. Small, for a giant's offspring. Abandoned, suffering, left to die. Laufey's son."
"Laufeyson..." Loki blinked in disbelief, trying to wrap his mind around what Odin was telling him.
"Yes."
"Wha-... Why?!" Loki's disbelief turned into panic, his breath growing short and his eyes straining for answers. "You were knee-deep in Jotun blood. Why would you take me?"
"You were an innocent child."
"No. You took me for a purpose. What was it?"
The Allfather looked down at his son, his expression pained. Silence.
"TELL ME!" Eyes brimming with tears, Loki cried out to Odin.
"I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day, bring about an alliance. Bring about a permanent peace, through you."
Loki's expression wrinkled in pain and betrayal. He had been used. He was being used. Odin would have used him until the day he died, and even then would never have told him his true heritage. "What..." His voice cracked as he panted.
"But those plans no longer matter."
The look of pain on Loki's face quickly turned to one of disgust, mouth open in horror at his 'father's words. He really had been used. "So I am no more than another stolen relic. Locked up here until you might have use of me."
"Why do you twist my words?" Odin tried to reason with his son. This could not have gone worse.
"You could have told me what I was from the beginning! Why didn't you?!"
"You're my son. I wanted only to protect you from the truth..."
"What because I-I.. I'm the monster that parents tell their children about at night? You know it all makes sense, now, why you favored Thor all these years. Because no matter how much you claim to love me, you could never have a FROST GIANT sitting on the throne of Asgard!"
As Loki expressed his betrayal to his father, the Allfather slowly sank to the ground, gasping and clutching his chest. He reached out to his son, unable to handle the physical and emotional pain of guilt that was being cast on him. Odin collapsed, his hand falling onto the stairs he laid on. It wasn't until this moment that Loki realized what he had done. Torn between love and betrayal, his worry won over as he called out to the guards for help, kneeling at his 'father's side. What had he done?
