In how many worlds would it have happened? Not many, that's for sure.
But, you know, their world contained a lot of anomalies. In fact, the weirder something seemed, the closer to normal it probably was. But at the time, and within their small community, it seemed sort of bizarre. Sort of.
He, the athletic sweetheart of the courageous lions, and she, the wild and crazy harlot of the cunning snakes. Day and night, sunset and sunrise, sweet and sour. Lion and snake.
They have their similarities, though.
"I'm not the desperate type." It's a common refrain for the both of them, although he probably uses it less.
"I'm sleeping my way out of this one." Both say it, but with different meanings. So, it could be said that that doesn't really count as a similarity. Nothing about them is exactly defined, though.
"Love is an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired." He never used to think that. Then Roxanne went and broke his heart, and he started to wonder if love was something to be avoided.
Now they believe it. They believe it together.
"I'll have to be persuaded." He says it with a wink.
"Oh? With?" She replies in a similar fashion.
"Lips, sweetness." That famous dimple comes out as he grins at her, a grin full of boyish charm. The kind of grin you see on the face of a small child blowing bubbles.
He's the sweet one in the relationship, whilst still doing his fair share of banter in that typical boyish fashion.
"One sugar or two?" He asks when she pulls away from him, already flicking his wand for the kettle to boil and the tea bag to float into a mug. Strawberry and mango, his favourite.
"Two." She lounges on the sofa and smiles at him, her gaze purposely sexy in the light of the candles as he bustles about the small kitchen and makes her a drink in that delicate silver and green teacup. Strawberry and mango, her favourite.
Apparently there were more similarities than people had originally thought.
They were stronger than people thought would be possible, too.
"I don't want to lose you."
"I'm not going anywhere."
People thought they wouldn't work. Thought they'd fall apart, break each other's hearts.
Didn't they prove them wrong?
Because while they were day and night, sunset and sunrise, sweet and sour, lion and snake.
But they were also Jude and Oliver.
And it was because of that that they worked.
