Holidays at Hogwarts

Downtime in the Dungeons

"It's not easy you know" the greasy voice of Draco Malfoy whined across the damp marble "all the pressure to perform... my father's proud of me whatever I do, so why doesn't Professor Snape-"

"Shut it blondie or I'll give yer a smack" the orkish figure of Marcus Flint lumbered into the room

"What're you going to do? Grind my bones to make your bread?" the younger boy shot back

"Big words from a little boy" the troll's face leered back at him

"It would be such a shame if father had to take his broomsticks back wouldn't it?" his thin face stretched into a sneer of triumph as Flint stumped off

"I don't mind you talking" the thin frame of Pansy Parkinson perched primly on the seat next to Malfoy

"I think it's very good for you to let your feelings out" she simpered "you can talk to me about anything" she shifted closer to Draco causing his face to turn a similar colour to his hair

"Um... thanks" he stood up quickly as the door clunked shut "Goyle! Thank goodness you're here!" Malfoy gave a horrible smile

"Wha- where we going? Wass goin on?"

"We've got important homework to do, haven't we?" the thin blonde steered the stocky lump towards the boy's dormitories

"I don't... I s'pose. Have we?" Goyle replied bemused

"Yes" he nodded hugely "we'll be in trouble if it's not done" he stared heatedly at his goon, as if challenging him to argue "you'll be in detention all through lunchtime"

The blubbery teen froze; Malfoy watched the expression on his face slowly change. He could practically see the cogs turning in his head.

Like a shot, Goyle sprinted into the dormitory, tearing a mangled quill from deep within his robes dragging a helpless Draco with him like a leaf in a storm.

"Well..." Pansy said, flustered "you can't blame a girl for trying can you?" and she stormed off, leaving a newly arrived Crabbe to stand alone in the common room and wonder what he had missed.

Tension in the Tower

Penelope Clearwater had just returned from the Halloween feast, this year had been one of the most energetic she'd ever experienced, as she surmounted the last flight of stairs she came across a most unusual sight.

"are you ok?" she asked the guardian of the Ravenclaw common room

"fine" it hiccupped "lovely party!"

"aren't you going to let me in?" she asked it

"hold up!" it slurred "that's not how it works, I'm supposed to ask you the questions, right... ummm ooh! I've got one!" it smiled to itself and stopped

"what is it?" she prompted

"dunno" it said "go on in" and opened the entrance

The prefect sighed, deciding not to concern herself about it and entered the common room. As she entered, she noticed the emptiness of the room, only that bizarre first year, Luna Lovegood, and Padma Patil gossiping with... Padma Patil?

"Padma, how did you get your sister in here?" she asked accusingly

"easy, convinced the statue it was seeing double" she grinned

"if that wasn't so funny I'd be very upset with you!" she said condescendingly "Parvarti, you really shouldn't be in here"

"the holiday is a time for family? Please Penelope?"

"oh, fine. Just don't let the statue see you leave twice" the twins high-fived one another

"It won't matter too much" Luna piped up "he just verbally abused me..."
