I'm so bored that I'm beginning to do headcanons. This is number 888:
"Raven wants children but the possibility of them being used by Trigon to take over the Earth terrifies her, so she considers herself unable to have kids."
I don't own Teen Titans. Enjoy!
The subject had not been breached for their first year together.
They had started off innocently enough. A sheepish request for a date was accepted. The date commenced. A kiss was shared under the moonlight. More dates followed. They became more open. Intimacy moved from chaste kisses to the bedroom after a long time getting used to the idea of each other. Even then, they had not talked about it.
The 'it' in question being children.
It was obvious enough after the first month of intimacy that Raven had been utilizing birth control, but they had never actually offered up conversation about it. Those months and that year evolved into another year before Beastboy had asked her to marry him. They were comfortable enough with the relationship that a 'yes' was given with little hesitance.
After the altar, it had become apparent that it needed to be spoken about.
"Rae... are we ever going to have a family?" he asked her. They were lying in bed, cuddling when he had broke the silence. Raven felt guilty for not telling him earlier, but remained adimant in saying:
"I can't have children, Gar."
The news was shocking enough to get him thinking, but her husband was nowhere near mad. He had always told her that no matter what had happened, he only wanted to be with her, and he proved that more every day. However, such a topic was not so easily brushed away. He needed to know more.
"Really? Is it some sort of a demon thing... I mean, I have no knowledge of you ever having 'the monthly girl thing' in our relationship... except for that time when you mentioned something about heat before whisking me away to the bedroom." Such descriptions were usual of him... for all of the things he was, Garfield Logan was not a tactful speaker. She adored that about him.
"Not a demon thing..." she replied, turning to face him, eyes brimming with tears. "If we had children and my father decided..." she trailed off. Both knew full well what Trigon the Terrible was capable of. Gar nodded his head.
"I suppose it's your choice... it's a big risk with your father still around, after all." he said, attempting to sound a little less broken than he was. She saw right through him though, the want of a family that neither of them had gotten to grow up with. It would break him to not have children. She knew this would bite her back later, as she still had no intention of reproducing any time soon, but Raven decided that in a relationship, some things must be compromised.
"I... I'll think about it." she told him quietly. Even without the definite answer, her empathy felt his spirits lifting. And she did intend to think about it... later, for even the dark sorceress was not immune to the girly fantasies of having children and a family, and she had always wondered what their children would look like. She voiced these thoughts aloud to him in a single sentance which ended their conversation.
"I have always wanted a family with you, anyway."
It sucks, I know, but I'm getting tuckered out. Also, headcanons aren't really my thing, being as they aren't my idea, but I suppose it gives me something to do.
