"Bobby, for the last time, no more pillows," Jack said, his voice close to a yell. He leaned back against the headboard and glared as best he could when Bobby moved closer, a pillow clutched in his hands.

He immediately felt bad for snapping when he saw a quick flash of hurt in Bobby's eyes. "I'm fine, really," he pleaded. Bobby had done nothing else but take care of him from the moment he'd been shot till the day they got home from the hospital.

Bobby snorted. "Fine he says," he muttered. He dropped the pillow at the edge of the bed. "Shot five times, no fuckin' sweat eh?" he snapped.

Jack rolled his eyes slightly. "It's been weeks Bobby, I'm home now, I'm not gonna break y'know," he said, exasperation clear in his voice.

Bobby fiddled with the corner of the pillow and shrugged. "I'm just tryin' to take care of you," he said. "I'm not too good at it, I guess."

Jack sighed. "I know, and I like it, but you're smothering me," he said. "You won't even let me get outta bed without you helping!"

Bobby sat down beside the bed and looked away from Jack's face. "Almost lost you," he whispered.

"But you didn't," Jack said softly. He shuffled forward a bit, inching closer to where Bobby was. "And I'm still here."

Bobby shuddered, remembering the blood all over his hands, the snow, and the way Jack had screamed. "Too close, Jackie," he said quietly. "It was way too close."

Jack shuffled forward a bit more and rested his head on Bobby's shoulder. "You got to me," he reminded him.

"Barely," Bobby said, the words bitter in his mouth. Jack stroked Bobby's head, playing with his hair.

"Doesn't matter," Jack said, ignoring the unspoken words between them. "I'm still here, you're still here."

Bobby nodded, wiping at his face. "I'll go get you somethin' to eat. Soup?" he asked as he stood up, changing the topic effectively.

Jack groaned and fell back against the pillows. "God, no more soup," he cried out dramatically.

Bobby smiled, the worry lines on his face smoothing out. "Lots of soup," he promised as he stepped out of the room, dodging the pillow that Jack threw at him.
