Just a Dream

By: Carrie Underwood

Baby, why'd you leave me, why'd you have to go?

I was counting on forever, now I'll never know

I can't even breathe

It's like I'm looking from a distance,

Standing it the background

Everybody's saying, he's not coming home now,

This can't be happening to me

This is just a dream

"You promise Inuyasha. You swear you'll come back." She looked at him with tears in her eyes. He was leaving and Kagome had a feeling she'd never see him again.

Inuyasha looked down at her. He smiled a little and pressed his lips to her forehead. "I always come back, don't I? I won't abandon you…not either of you." He kissed her and ran his hand over her stomach. With that Inuyasha looped off without a backward glance…

Kagome stood there, in the pouring ran, with tears running down her face. It wasn't supposed to end this way. He was supposed to come back. He said he wouldn't abandon them, but he was gone. She couldn't take care of a baby by herself. She placed a hand over her belly and silently mourned the fact that her baby wouldn't have a father. Her eyes slide shut and she ran her fingers over the cold stone that made up Inuyasha's final resting place. She let her head fall back and the rain hit her in the face. She'd tell her baby about his father. She'd tell him how sweet he was, how he always tried to protect those he loved, and most of all she'd tell him how much his father loved him. "I love you, with all my heart, I love you." She whispered before she walked off trying to stop the tears that fell like rain.

Kagome jerked awake, her heart was pounding in her chest. She ran her hand over her flat belly and felt the baby kick. She sighed and fell back on her pillow. She rolled over and was face to face with Inuyasha. His chest moved up and down and his eyes were closed. She felt the tears run down her face. She snuggled closer to him and cried against his chest. The sound, and smell, of Kagome crying woke up the sleepy hanyou. "Why are you crying?" Kagome kissed his jaw.

"You're okay…" She whispered.

"Yes, I'm okay, just like when we feel asleep." He yawned a stretched out. Kagome didn't let go of his Kimono. "What's wrong?"

Kagome looked up at him. "I had a dream that you died…I don't want you to leave me."

Inuyasha smiled. "I can never truly leave you because I'll always be right," he put his palm over her heart. "here. As long as you remember me I can never leave you…and even if I died I'd always watch over you, because I love you."

"I love you mom and you too dad." Ichigo looked at both of his parents grave markers. His father had died before he was even born and his mother had died only a year ago. He ran his claws through his long black hair. The two small black ears atop his head twitched.

"It's time to go Ichigo." Mau said softly.

"Coming!" He called to Sango's and Miroku's daughter, and the only woman he could ever love. As he turned around he saw his mother in his father's arms. They didn't say anything they just smiled as if to wish him good luck on his journey. "Thank you…" He whispered to his parents as he raced to catch up with Mau and Shippo.
