Magikarp for sale: How does the Magikarp you can buy in the series and the game feel? One shot from Magikarp's pov.
I remember when you first caught me. You were so excited that something had finally bitten the bait on your line. Then you saw me as you pulled me out of the lake, and your face fell. I think in that moment you wondered if you should keep me for the data I would add to your pokedex, or if you should toss me back. you decided to let the pokeball make the decision and tossed it at me. I didn't fight. What would be the point? If i fought you would throw me back, which would mean I would be back to being ridiculed as all Magikarp are by all other water types. So, I was caught.
I think you were embarrassed to use me, because the only time you ever took me out of my pokeball was when we were far away from anything that even remotely resembled civilization. Then you met another trainer, one who told you how he got rid of his Magikarp. That was the first time I was introduced to the tank. It was large enough to hold me, but not enough to let me swim properly so I hardly ever got any exercise, and as such, became fat and lazy. Every town we went to, you'd try to scam another trainer into buying me, something I didn't understand. They only ever took one look at me, and laughed. I don't remember how long we travelled like this, you and me, but eventually, a trainer that wasn't as bright as the others you had tried to pawn me off on finally took you up on your offer. Then you handed over my pokeball, and that was the last I ever saw of you.
I wonder now, after my accidental evolution into a Gyarados, what would have happened if we had stayed together? Could I have been strong for you? Could I have evolved for you? Could I have been one of your best pokemon if you had given me a chance? Maybe, but for now I sit in the very lake you caught me in and I protect the new Magikarp.

Kind of short, but I think it gets it's point across. That poor Magikarp, did any of you ever buy it in the game? I did. I know, you're probably laughing, but I felt sorry for it, and it actually turned out to be one of my stronger pokemon.
