Rain in the Desert

Day Star

I step off the train,
I'm walking down your street again,
and past your door,
but you don't live there anymore.

The blonde man sighs as his azure eyes watch the black clouds overhead. But he continues to walk down the road, alone. Nobody notices him. Nobody notices his pain that he has to endure day after day.

It's years since you've been there.
Now you've disappeared somewhere
like outer space,
you've found some better place,

He stands in front of the apartment complex, eyes gazing hopefully on a certain window. Of course today is like all the other days for the past three years. But he keeps coming back. Someday Tai could come back home. All he can do now is wait.

and I miss you
- like the deserts miss the rain.

The bond between them was so deep. It was more than friendship. Why couldn't he have seen that? They shared their very souls with each other. Together they saved two worlds. Together they could have done anything.

Could you be dead?
You always were two steps ahead
of everyone.
We'd walk behind while you would run.

But he had ruined it. Sora manipulated him, and seperated him and Tai. The hurt in those brown eyes when Sora announced their engagement. The hurt in those eyes followed Matt everywhere, even in his sleep he could still see the pain he had caused.

I look up at your house,
and I can almost hear you shout
down to me
where I always used to be,

Ring Ring

Matt its for you. Should I take a message?

No!

But you need to get ready! Today is the big day.

I'll just be a minute.

Hi Matt!

Tai!

I just wanted to let you know, that I wish you the best Matt. I hope that you and Sora make each others lives special.

Matt chokes up. Oh Tai! Will I see you there?

I can't Matt. I'm going to travel around a bit. Find out where I belong.

I'll miss you Tai.

I'll miss you too.

and I miss you -
like the deserts miss the rain.

Matt stood in front of the minister, Sora at his side. This is wrong. This isn't right. All I can think about is Tai. But its too late now.

Do you Yamato Ishida take Sora to be your lawfully wedded wife?

Sora smiles sweetly up at him, waiting. His father, and brother are smiling encouragingly. I'm supposed to be happy, why am I miserable? Because I love Tai, not Sora.

Matt, your supposed to say I do!

I don't.

Back on the train,
I ask why did I come again.
Can I confess
I've been hanging around your old address?

He looks into Sora's tearfilled eyes. I'm sorry Sora. I have to go. Matt bolts down the aisle, and up the street. He knocks on the door, waiting eagerly for Tai's expession when he sees Matt at the door.

And the years have proven
to offer nothing since you moved.
You're long gone
but I can't move on,

But Tai wasn't home. He had left to travel the world. No, you didn't know when he would come back. Matt was too late.

and I miss you -
like the deserts miss the rain

All I can do now is wait for you to come back to me
. Matt turns and walks back down the street, ignoring the rain plastering his blonde hair to his face. All I can do is wait.
