JLA/AVENGERS: WHEN HEROES COLLIDE
Without faith in your allies, how can you defeat your enemies.
PROLOGUE
The People of this new universe were stupid. It hadn't taken Lex Luthor long to figure this out. They were sitting on a gold mine better than Lex's own universe had ever been able to offer. Super powers were a genetic disorder. Everyone and his brother knew who every superhero was and where he lived and worked and sent his kids to school. This world was a like sand pit, but Lex Luthor seemed to be among the few who saw it had something wonderful buried in it. This world needed Lex Luthor and everyone who disagreed with that sentiment was clearly only so because he was against Lex. There was no other reason for him not to become President. He was after all, so much smarter and braver than that fool President Hernandez. Everyone thought so. Even Senator Kelly. Senator Kelly wanted Lex more than anyone else. He would keep the Superhumans in check. He would stop the vigilantes. He and he, alone would expose SHEILD for what it truly was. Yes, Lex Luthor had this world on a string. No one could stop him from becoming president.
The door opened, a bald man in a wheel chair, a brown-haired man wearing sunglasses, a girl with long red hair, a man with long dark hair and a straggly beard and a black woman with long white hair came in.
"Charles." Lex said nonchalantly, "What a surprise."
"Can it, Luthor." Said the man with the beard, "We know all about what you did."
"Oh really, Logan," Lex wanted to laugh, "And what exactly did I do?"
"You mean apart from kidnapping several young children? Selling weapons to HYDRA? And framing a SHEILD agent for stealing a dangerous obelisk?." Asked the man in the sunglasses.
"Now, Scott." Lex answered, "Those are some serious accusations."
"And every word of each of them is true." Said the African American women, "Everything about your life, Mr. Luthor is a lie."
Lex frowned, "You can't prove anything."
"Can we?" It was red-haired woman's voice, but her lips weren't moving.
"Oh I see." Lex laughed, "So that's your game, eh Charles? You really think that people will believe the words of two of the best known telepathic inhuman minds in America."
"Just come quietly, Alexander." Was the man in the wheelchair's answer.
"So that's how it going to be then," There was a time when Lex hated doing this, but that was before he had come to understand that to reach the top, you had to knock the other guy down.
"Ultron." The Androids surrounded the X-men, they wouldn't die. No, Lex had different plans for them.
