KODA POV
My claws dug into the snow with each step I took. Mother was on the other side of the waterfall, and I had to meet her to the Salmon run before dawn. My breath was like frostbite against my furry face, and I felt like an outcast in a world of complete white. I climbed up a tree to see how far away I really was from home. My surroundings were not familiar to me, much less my home. I cocked my head to the right, and sniffed the air for anything desirable to eat. Mother was not here to feed me anymore, and I needed to survive this until I found her.
I saw a squirrel on the ground, but I knew him, and he provided nuts for me. Well…. I didn't exactly know him, but every nut he threw at me was delicious! I sat under a tree, and finished off my nuts. I heard footsteps crunch the snow, and climbed onto the lowest branches. That was all I could do, since a hunter was right behind me.
"Hey Kenai! Come over here!" One man called.
"Denahi, don't touch it," The other man, Kenai said, "Do you wanna fend off its mother?"
Mother. Oh man! I'd completely forgotten about the salmon run! I jumped out of the tree, and ran across the ground, much faster than the pesky humans. They chased me, but there was no way they could get me. Plus, I'm a raging ball of brown fur around them!
I ran until I spotted another bear, desperately hanging by his foot in a tree. I got him down luckily, but he wasn't much company. His voice sounded like one of the hunters, and he smelt of man. I pushed that thought away, and allowed him to lead me to the salmon run. He needed to get to the Northern lights, and I needed my mother, so he took me with him.
We made it there in record time, and I found out the truth; this bear was a man. He was Kenai, and he had killed my mother.
