AN: Warning: MAJOR spoilers to The Witch's Familiar. Haven't seen the episode? Then I suggest you don't read. You've been warned. Enjoy!
Compassion.
In the world of science, of that of understanding, such a term was to be rejected and scoffed upon. There was no use for sentimental distractions through the path of ambition. To show mercy, even pity, was to doom oneself to failure, no matter how victorious they apparently seem; inevitably, defeat will slap the compassionate ones in the face.
He understood this. It's a shame his arch nemesis did not.
Poor, naive, compassionate Doctor. Davros smiled at the cries of agony behind him, begging the ambitious Kaled to cease with absorbing his Godlike powers. The benefit that was regeneration; an ability of limitless possibilities; one as such as to bring the aged scientist back to life at the fullest, once more. All because the foolish man behind him followed the preposterous emotion like a lost puppy.
Yes. Compassion had advantages, Davros would- will not deny this. And in a way, the Kaled genius mused, it had saved his life. No... it WAS entirely responsible for restoring him to his fullest strength. Him and his children.
All hail Davros. The great Lord of Skaro.
And who was the source of his rebirth; this great course of energy flooding his being? The one bearing the power that brought life back in the last of the Kaleds? Why, none other than his greatest foe. His greatest irritation. His greatest equal.
His greatest... friend.
Davros tasted the word in his mind. Friend... Yes, he supposed there was no denying it now. After everything they've been through, together, surely they've reached that level of acknowledgement. Davros never had any friends throughout the entirety of their life, but there was a first for everything.
Ah... It was almost done.
Yet as he heard the door open, Davros' smile grew. It mattered not if the process was disrupted here and now. He had more than enough to sustain him indefinitely. And the sentimental Doctor was to thank for that.
Compassion was always his greatest fault.
As Davros became stronger, so too did his children. Yes... with his rebirth, the universe shall be his. The creator of the most greatest species of all shall emerge triumphant once more! The regeneration energy - and by extension the Doctor's compassion - was one step for Davros to step himself above the Gods.
And through the Daleks, I shall attain that power!
