A Little Less Thinking, A Little More Feeling.

You would have liked him, Mama, you would…

Jenny walked slowly, the flowers she'd brought with her clenched tightly between both fists, reminiscent of a bride and her bouquet. Had she noticed, she probably would have laughed out loud at the irony but her mind was working overtime as it was and she simply continued her journey down the gravel path, her eyes focused on her intended destination. She was grateful that her security detail had the good grace to watch over her from a distance, for there were times when she wished she could, just for a moment, forget she was Director Shepard and return to the time in her life when she was just Jenny.

There was someone to whom she would always be just Jenny; someone who Jenny had often come to over the years when she needed guidance. As Jenny came to the end of the path, she hoped that by opening up her heart she would be able to find the answer to the question that had kept her awake the night before.

She slowed to a stop. Out of the corner of her eye she could see her detail also come to a halt but she ignored them and instead focused on the person before her.

"Hello, Mom. I'm so sorry it's been such a long time since I've visited. I have some news for you. You remember I told you about Jethro? Well, he asked me to marry him last night and…oh, Mom," Jenny sank to her knees before the marble gravestone, "if there's ever been a time when I needed you…it's now,"

A/N: I know, I know…you can probably all smell the cheese from where you are…this seemed like such a good idea in my head but sometimes things just don't write the way you see it in your head. There's more to come – I made this chapter short to see if anyone is interested in it -please let me know. If there's silence then I won't be offended, I promise.
