Freudian Matters

Ishida stared at the book.

A low growl emitted from behind clenched teeth. No matter how many times he read that passage, nothing was sinking in. The amount of trouble it continued to give would make one think it was written in a different language. Granted, it was a medical book, but it was one of the more understandable ones he'd come across in his studies.

He stared at it again…

"HEY URYUU!"

…and lost control.

The book was throne across the room, along with a pad for taking notes and the blue ink pen he was using.

Orihime, who'd so rudely—blessedly, Ishida thought secretly—interrupted the study time he'd set aside for daily medical studies, waved from the doorway. "You okay there Uryuu?"

"Yes, I'm fine," he sighed, pushing his glasses back. He stared at the book on the other side of the classroom. "Just a little overstressed."

Inoue smiled. She glided over to Ishida's book and picked it up, taking the pen and pad with her. "Sexual reproduction," she read off the notes. Uryuu blushed.

"It's required!" he blurted. "I mean, as a doctor one must know all aspects of the body, shouldn't they?"

"Uh-huh!" Orihime grinned. She handed a flustered Ishida back his books. "I was reading a book on psychology the other day in the library."

Pleased the conversation had taken a different turn, Uryuu smiled. "Really?"

His companion nodded, turning a chair around so she could see him better. "Yeah, it was very interesting."

Ishida smiled. Orihime was a very pretty girl and quite smart when she wanted to be. Spending time with her was indeed a blessing. He would not list off her attributes; they were far too big for him to wrap his mind around anyway. He opted instead for admiring her and her suddenly strange interest in psychology books.

He would have to thank her for not letting the conversation dwell on such an inappropriate subject for the circumstances.

"Did you know that some athletes swear off sex before a big competition because they need the pent up energy?"
