*~Hi everyone~ I usually write but I couldn't keep myself from writing this. This was a short piece I wrote for my Creative Writing class and thought I'd share. Enjoy!*~

"You'll train with me tomorrow right Allen! Right?" Allen continued to walk down the extensive hallway with Timothy trailing on his heels jabbering loudly about various topics. It had been a long day and all he wanted to do was sleep but Timothy was always the persistent type. He ignored the excited boy for a majority of the walk but by the time he reached his bedroom door he had to answer otherwise the younger would follow and keep him up all night. With a sigh he turned and let a forced smile play on his lips.

"Yes Timothy I will train with you tomorrow. Goodnight." Allen went to open his door when suddenly his sleeve was tugged rather forcibly towards the ground. He swiveled awkwardly to face the boy once again with an annoyed smile on his face. "What is it?"

Pinky promise?" The short boy before him held up his pinkie expectantly giving Allen no choice to decline. He humored the Timothy's childish act and linked his pinky."

"I pinky promise." Before he could blink the boy was already sprinting back down the way they came screaming that he'd see Allen tomorrow. Finally he was able to relax and be able to breathe without Timothy screaming in his ear constantly. He adored having the boy as his companion but it was hard to keep up with that type of energy day in and day out. With a sigh of relief he collapsed on the plush bed and stared at the ceiling. He sat in silence for a moment before bringing his gloved hand into view, a nostalgic smile creeping onto his lips. He could remember the last time he had a pinky swear.

"Allen you need to study." The brown haired seven year old whined loudly, his cries of annoyance echoing off the walls of their small apartment. He threw his pencil down and marched to the window overlooking the bustling cobblestone streets of Britain.

"But Mana I don't wanna study!" The boy cried out in his thick English accent as he puffed out his cheeks childishly. "Studying is boring."

"Allen…a lot of things in life are boring but you still have to do them." Mana sat on the windowsill and pulled the small boy onto his lap. He chuckled lightly at the pout still expressed on Allen's face.

"I don't wanna! I wanna go outside and buy ice cream." Mana rolled his eyes. Of course all Allen would want to do is go out for ice cream. All that boy could think about was food!

"Okay Allen, how about this. If you finish five more pages in your study I will take you to that ice cream cart on the other side of the park. Deal?" The small boy looked at his father skeptically before holding up his pinkie finger.

"Let's pinky promise. You can't break a pinky promise." Mana accepted his son's request and linked pinkies.

"Alright I promise, now get to work. The sooner you finish the sooner we can go." Mana ruffled Allen's hair and watched as the boy flew to his books and began writing quickly. "Honest work Allen! Don't make things up!"

Those were the good days. Back when Mana was alive Allen had no worries other than what food he was going to have for supper. He was a stubborn child and was far from easy to take care of but Mana was always trying his best to keep up. Often Mana would tell him that he needed to keep moving forward and never look back, something that Allen often chalked of as nothing when he was younger. Now it was probably the only thing he believed in anymore. It had stuck with him over the years and become the code he chose to live by. Looking back on it now it felt more like something he should've promised to do but he was far too young to think of it. With a small smile Allen lifted his hand and linked his pinkies together.

"I pinky promise."
