Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Author's Note: This was inspired by "Monster In Law" and two lines are direct quotes, don't sue me for using them please. I started writing it via IM for Amanda, and though it doesn't actually have Jolie in it they are a component.
Dedication: For Amanda 'cause she helped me fix one of the lines to suit Asa a bit better.
Title: From the Horse's Mouth
Natalie walked into the Llanfair living room, throwing her purse down as she fell backwards onto the couch with a contented sigh. "About damn time you got home, girl." She jumped to her feet and turned to see Asa standing in the doorway.
"Grandpa! You gave me a heart attack!" "Well are you gonna give me a hug?" She moved to hug him. "What are you doing here?" "I came here to talk to you about this wedding of yours." She smiled. "What about it?"
He frowned and took his hat off. "Well, honey. You're such a beautiful young filly and I don't think you should be tying yourself down." Natalie rolled her eyes. "Grandpa, I've heard it. If that's all you have to say--" He held up a hand.
"Hold it, let me finish. All I'm sayin' is that marriage is a sacred union, a commitment that shouldn't be entered into lightly--" Natalie burst into laughter and he frowned.
"What's so funny?" It was a moment before she stopped laughing enough to talk. "I'm sorry. It's just--haven't you been married eleven times?"
"Well I guess that makes me an expert wouldn't you say?"
"Grandpa, I love John and he loves me. We're getting married," she replied firmly. He smiled at the look of determination in her eyes. "You're a true Buchanan. I know better than to keep going down this dead-end road." He embraced her. "That cop better watch himself. If he ever hurts you again I will shoot his ass."
Natalie laughed. "Thanks for the well wishes." "For my favorite granddaughter? Anytime."
