"Come on Kyo! If we don't hurry I won't have time to make dinner for you, Yuki and Shigure." Tohru Honda said pulling Kyo by the hand down the path that led to their home.
"Hold on a minute will ya?" Kyo responded with a grunt and awkwardly stopping in his tracks. "I need to tell you something. Something that I've wanted to tell you for a while now."
Tohru turned around to look at Kyo with her bright eyes and one of her ever present smiles.
"What is it Kyo? Oh, and thank you for walking home from work. That was very kind of you!" She said shyly looking at Kyo.
Kyo looked down at the small brown-haired girl before him. The small sparkle in her eyes as she looked at him gave him the hope and courage to go on. That small twinkle in the blue spheres before him let him know that she felt the same way he did-even if she didn't know it.
Kyo stepped forward and gently took a hold of Tohru's right hand in his own. Tohru gasped for a moment and looked down at their interlocked hands and then up at Kyo, with apprehension in her blue eyes. Kyo closed his ruby eyes trying to muster up the nerve to actually admit this one thing that might literally make or break him, depending on her response.
"Kyo? Is everything alright?" Tohru said pulling her hand from his own and gently touching the side of his cheek. Kyo opened his eyes and then he stepped back and paced away from her while giving a growl in frustration. Then he turned back around and strode up to Tohru till he stood just a few feet from her and took a deep breath.
"Look, I don't know how to say this," he started to say balling his fingers into fists, "and I don't want to get all girly and sugary." Then taking a deep breath he said with a smile, "But I love you Tohru."
Tohru looked in disbelief at the boy before her and then in a rush of happiness exclaimed, "I LOVE YOU TOO KYO!" She instinctively reached out to wrap her arms around his waist and realized too late that doing so would transform Kyo into his zodiac form. As the cloud of orange smoke disappeared the cat form of Kyo was wrapped in the arms of the only person he had ever loved.
