A/N: Okay, so I was browsing when I noticed that there aren't any stories about Graydon, so what the heck? I wrote a little tiny one. It really is tiny, and it might not be totally follow the happenings, but here it is.
Eighteen month-old Graydon sat on the ground in the living room, playing with something. Raven and Victor stood quietly in the doorway, neither said a thing, just watching until Raven broke the ice,
"He's starting to look like you."
Victor didn't even blink, "Hm."
"You know, this could be something, if you let it." She blinked her softly glowing, yellow eyes, fighting the urge to hit this insensitive asshole.
"Nope, ain't gonna dive into that pit again. Look," He turned to Raven, "We had fun, we stuck by each other when all our teammates took off. But, I'm not the paternal type, okay? If I go now, he won't even remember me."
Raven bit her lip, "He loves you, Vic."
Victor looked away, not acknowledging that last statement.
"D-Don't you love him? Or me?" She demanded, suddenly, tears weren't enough, she was angry. It just wasn't fair to be abandoned by the man you thought loved you, especially when you had his child for the love of God.
"Well, I didn't know it was you at the time-"
"After that?"
"Raven," Victor put his huge hands on her shoulders, "I'm beggin' ya, if I stay, Graydon will always have those bastards hanging over his shoulders. I want him to be safe . . . because I don't want him to hate me for my own mistakes. I'm sorry, I really am . . . Just tell him I had a mission or that I died somewhere. Trust me, it'll be easier this way."
"No, it won't." Raven slumped, struggling between wanting to fall into his arms and push him away at the same time.
"You'll thank me, one day, I promise." Victor let go, turning to look at the boy who was watching with large blue eyes.
"I'm-I'm giving him up, Victor." Raven whispered.
"What?"
"I said I'm giving him up. I can't take care of a child . . . and he's human, Victor."
Victor blinked slowly, "Do what you hafta do, Raven, I won't fault you for it."
Then he picked up his duffel and left.
"Hey, Vic, c'mon." James leaned back in the Jeep, "What's the deal? I thought you were raring to go on this recon."
"Yeah, I am, Jimmy." Victor sighed and closed the car door behind him, "Let's just go."
Raven and Victor stood over Graydon's grave, there was nothing left of his body, so he just got a tombstone.
"I had to do it, Victor." Raven said softly, wiping rain off her face, "Look what he became."
"As if either of us-"
"You know what I mean, it had to be done."
Victor looked at her, his brown eyes glinting int the twilight, "I know, you do what you hafta do, but I wish it could've turned out different." He turned to leave.
"Victor."
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
"Don't mention it. Ever."
