Chapter 1: Introducing Alianna
"Alianna Rose, get your butt down here! The movers have just left and it's time to go!"
I looked up from where I was seated on my bedroom floor and let out a sigh. My mother seemed very eager to leave.
"I'm coming!" I yelled out and stood up. I looked around my empty room and felt a sense of loss. After 11 years of seeing this room every day, I would no longer see it anymore. I would miss all the good times. After one last look around the room, I walked out and rushed down the stairs.
"I'm ready," I said and looked around. My mother was the only one in the house. I assumed that my father, brothers, and sister were already outside and my mother was just waiting for me. "Let's go."
My mom walked out the front door and I followed. She turned around and handed me the keys.
"Shut the door and lock up," she said, "leave the keys in the mailbox. The new owners will pick them up tomorrow."
I did as she said then ran to the car and hopped in.
"Everyone ready?" my father asked while looking through the rearview mirror at my sister and me. We just nodded silently.
Hunching down in my seat, I pulled out my iPod and inserted the headphones in my ear. This was going to be a long ride.
