A Strange, Wonderful Man
He recalled a point in time in his life that his childhood took a rather interesting turn to say the least. Now, to any kid, meeting a strange man in a dark alley after school and who didn't seem not quite right in the head, was probably not the most ideal of situations to be in. More so with all of the disappearances of fellow neighbors and children going on around the area he lived in. It would've probably been best he stayed away and hurried on home, like he was supposed to do. Instead, he was intrigued and curious about the strange man, and even went so far as to start up a conversation with him.
The man was funny and a bit eccentric, from the way he acted and spoke. At times, he would ramble off about something then come back to the original conversation at hand before rambling off again. It was rather amusing. At least, the nine-year-old anyway.
But soon, their conversation came to an end by the appearance of an even stranger sight of a robotic person coming out of the alley and spotting the strange man. Immediately, the man grabbed nine-year-old Ben's arm and ran away with him, shouting something in French while the robotic thing attacked and chased after them.
That was when the boy's entire world turned upside down around him.
And it was wonderful.
The man helped solve the mysterious disappearances going on around the area and even took care of it all. People returned to their homes and family safe and sound, there was even a small celebration held in welcoming the missing people back home. Though, not everyone could be saved, sadly. But those that did are forever grateful in being able to see another day and able to see their loved ones again after spending a time under fear and the constant threat of death.
He was happy to say that the strange man did not leave immediately. Oh no, he stuck around for a bit and even took the nine-year-old on a few adventures with him, taking him to new places and let him see all kinds of strange and odd creatures. It was utterly amazing and fantastic! And granted, there was danger. Oh, and how dangerous it was! But the lessons that were learned and the time that spent made it so that Ben Parker would never forget that strange, wonderful man and his blue box.
When Ben Parker was a young boy, he met a strange man who called himself 'The Doctor'. He was a strange but good man and he showed Ben all of time and space, and taught him many important things and lessons he still holds as truth to this day.
And he would think of him years later when he tells his nephew something the Doctor unintentionally taught long ago. And he would've been proud.
"With great power, there must also come, great responsibility."
