Gabriel smiles at him and suddenly he's the boy Vladislaus knew. He's forgotten again. He remembers nothing, not this four hundred years or the last.
"I feel as though I know you." Gabriel ventures.
Vladislaus grins. The years have gone with the tide and he's gazing at a beautiful new beginning.
"We were lovers and we were enemies," he offers. "I preferred the former."
Gabriel grins and the world seems brighter.
"So do I, I think."
And because he knows only what he feels, Gabriel reaches out to take his hand. It's such a small thing. It shouldn't affect him. But for four hundred years—
