A/N: Once again, the angst plot bunny bites...
Broken...twisted...eyes boring into mine. Then, to my surprise, you smile. For a moment, I want to believe that the girl I once knew has returned. But reality sinks its bitter teeth and you turn away with a sigh. We used to sit for hours dreaming together, looking up into the sky, discussing our deepest desires. You say nothing now. You will never say anything again.
You speak volumes with your gaze. Love for the others shines within your eyes. But it is not so when you look at me. Defeat and a tinge of hatred are saved for me alone.
I understand, my Kagome, why you look at me so...smile at me with a broken sigh. I took away your voice in a fit of uncontrolled madness. Not a demonic madness...though others would say it. I struck out of anger...and fear that what you had said was true.
This knowledge of me has come at a great price. Forgive me...for I am the one whom your broken smile is directed...
