After a lot of time and nagging from Flyingboppers, I finally got the first chapter of my story put up. Its my first one, so I hope you like it!

Chapter 1~ THE THING

It was there. I could feel it. I knew it would come back; it always came back. I was afraid, bur only slightly. Something about the… the… I don't even know what it was, but something about it, made it seem comforting. It had an era about it that made me want to run over to it and be embraced in its arms. A little tugging in my gut told me I should. But I've seen way too many horror movies for that. Based on my how-to-survive-a-horror-movie-and-the-consequences guide, I will get massacred in a gory bloody mess. My family would hear my earsplitting scream and come running, but it would already be too late. The Thing would already be off into the cool night air, searching for another victim.

Okay, I admit it. Maybe I've seen one to many horror movies. But at least they make me cautious.

I woke up the next morning to blinding bright sunlight. I looked around my old farm-house room for The Thing, but it had vanished just like every other night.

I don't know why I always expected it to be there, but I guess I always had a small flicker of hope that I would get to see The Thing in daylight. But of course not, you know how the horror movies go; the creepy-stalker-thing only comes out at night.

I review a mental list of all the horror movie creatures I could think of, but nothing seems to fit the creepy/comforting thing that escapes in and out of my open window that I could never bring myself to close.

I guess, for now, it's just The Thing.

It was back. I knew it would come. But tonight, was different. The moon was full; cue eerie wolf howl. The silver moon projected a pool of white light on my bedroom floor. I let my eyes flutter closed knowing what would be there when I open them. Sure enough, The Thing was there. I saw it hunched in the far corner of my room hiding among the shadows. Wait… I saw it. The moon's light illuminated him just enough to see its mysterious shadow. A brief silhouette that drove me crazy. It's the closest I've ever gotten to seeing this… thing.

What I saw there, crouched in the corner of my room was hard to explain. Even hunched in the corner, I could see in-human grace. It looked almost human: tall, skinny, male, spikey out of control hair; I guess if you're a horror movie creature you don't have room on your schedule for barber shop. They have a tight schedule of murder, murder, murder… I need to stop that. I'm scaring myself.

Oh, and I forgot one minor detail; It had wings.
