Just A Day on the Beach

A plain-looking girl with the name of Bee was laying on the couch doing her usual routine, staring at the ceiling. Without a job like most people her age, she was stuck at home with nothing to do. A cute cat, dog like animal was curled up on Bees stomach taking one of his usual naps. His name was Puppycat. The strange thing about Puppycat was he wasn't even from here.

She had been sitting on the couch, flipping through the same twenty channels for what seemed more than an hour. "I wonder what Deckard is doing..." Bee said softly. He was her next door neighbor and one of the few people she had left to call as a friend. Somehow he managed to put up with all of her craziness. She stopped flipping when hitting the news channel. They were going over the weather forecast, it was suppose to be hot and sunny. Not a cloud in the sky.

Puppycat stirred in his sleep and awoke from his slumber. He had the usual annoyed look and stretched on her stomach. He sat straight up and looked down at her. He remained silent like usual and just stared her way.

Bee smiled, "Hey there Puppycat... what do you want to do?" She asked, glad that he was now away. She was beyond bored but at least now, she didn't have to be bored alone.

The hybrid didn't acknowledge her question, instead he scratched at the back of his ear.

Bee sat up, causing him to roll off her chest in a panic. An idea hit her fast, a smile came to her lips. "We should go to the beach. It's such a great day, the weather is perfect for it! We can even invite Deckard to go with us." She blushed lightly as she thought about the darker skinned teen with just swimming trunks on. "He's been keeping us alive with all of that food he gives us. It's the least we can do."

Puppycat looked up and his mouth began to move, speaking a language that seemed foreign but not hard to understand. "No. I don't want to. The beach is too hot and the salt in the water makes my fur disgusting. I don't like that guy anyway."

Bee looked at the animal surprisingly, not knowing that the other felt this way. "You don't like Deckard? He's really nice though and is constantly giving us his edible works of art! It doesn't hurt that he's kinda cute and super sweet..." She went on and her cheeks began heating up as she realized how much she was going on about her neighbor. "There's not really anything bad about him..." Grabbing her phone next to her, she looked up his contact. "I'll just tell her that we'll be there and if he wants to join, he can." She explained as she typed away at the buttons.

Puppycat frowned and turned away from her, so much for that conversation. She watched him walk over to the window and hop on the seal, using the window to see outside. He remained there, staring out the the world.

"For a cat...dog... who has the ability to speak, you sure don't talk that much." She said as she watched him. For the short period of time they were together, he had always acted this way. Always so distant. "I'm going to get dressed while you do... whatever it is you're doing." She told him as she headed towards her room. She soon came back with a lime green bikini on. "I'm ready when you are!" She cheered with a grin.

Puppycat looked at her and his bell suddenly glowed a pinkish color. Looking back down, he watched as a letter formed. Reaching out, he grabbed it. He then looked out towards Bee, the letter stretching out.

Bee frowned, "Really? This a terrible time for a job..." Her shoulder fell, she knew they would need the money for rent so it wasn't like she could wait for another envelope. She sadly walked over, taking the letter. She glanced at him before opening it. "Dear Puppycat..." She read out loud. "And human friend... Suspicious threats have been reported at an ocean near you on Earth. Please check it out and report back." She chuckled at Puppycat, "Looks like were going to the beach anyway..."

Puppycat continued to frown and the pink light from his bell surrounded her and she returned in her uniform.

Bee blushed as she looked down at the clothes, even after wearing it as much as she has, it still embarrassed her. Hearing her ringtone behind her, she turned to see her phone lit up. Walking over, she saw it was a reply from Deckard. He said he'd be there. Her skin paled, "I can not let him see me like this! Puppycat, we need to cancel the-" A fishbowl mask covered her head and she groaned. "This is going to suck super hard...:

A ball covered Puppycat's head as he stared at her blankly. He tapped the letter with his paw, accepting the mission and the two were suddenly transported to the waters of the ocean.

Bee had stumbled slightly when they arrived, not expecting the pressure underwater to be as great as it was. Once she was able to stand, she took the opportunity to look around, her expression amazed at all the fish and other life that lived down here. "Whoa... Puppycat... this is beautiful..." Turning her head, she gave a small wave to a school of silver colored fish.

Puppycat looked at her, "Pay attention Bee! We are on the job." He lectured. Of course when he finally did talk to her, he was yelling at her.

Bee nodded and a sword formed in her hand, her eyes scanned the area, "I don't see any-" Her words were interrupted when a black snake-like tentacle wrapped around her waist and squeezed her tight. So much for the peace and beauty down here. Bee looked up at the large monster as it hissed in her face. "Let me go you freak!" She yelled as she whacked him with her sword.

Puppycat's mouth was quick to glow and he began to shoot beams at the monster. He had great aim, hitting the creature dead in the chest. The snake cried out in pain and let Bee go before trying to make a quick escape.

Bee swam over quickly and stabbed her sword into its head and kicked his throat. "That's for squeezing me to death you stupid snake!"

Blood seeped into the waters, a thick red color. The fish in the area scattered away from the scene. Bee looked at Puppycat, "Another job completed it seems." She said with a small smile.

The two swam up to the top and over to the sandy beach. Bee snapped off the water bowl and it disappeared in just a misty sparkle. She looked up and squinted at the sky, "Would you look at that? There really isn't even a cloud in the sky."

Puppycat looked at her and then towards the beach so he could get out of the water. He began paddling away as quick as he could.

She followed behind him, and felt relieved once they reached the sand. Her stomach hurt from being squeezed earlier. Standing up, she looked at her companion before seeing him staring ahead with his hair sticking up. Following his eye of sight, she noticed Deckard walking this way. Luckily it seemed he was just looking for them since he had yet to make eye contact. "How do I take this stupid outfit off?!" She asked as she tugged at it. He couldn't see her like this! That would be so embarrassing! She looked up and began turning, about to run for it.

She paled when they did make eye contact, he waved and began walking faster towards them. She looked around, beginning to freak out. This was it. She was going to die from embarrassment.

"Hey Bee." Deckard said with a smile, a light pink blush covering his cheeks.

Bee jumped and was about to explain to him about the ridicules uniform but realized she was no longer wearing it, just the bikini she had put on before leaving. "H-Hey dude... what are you doing here?" She asked as she looked around, trying to avoid the face that he was shirtless and in swimming trunks and that he looked really good in them.

He chuckled, "Just enjoying the sun. My sister actually wanted to come and try to pick up guys." He said embarrassed while he rubbed the back of his neck.

Bee winced when she notice Puppycat scratch her leg. She picked him up and smiled, "Well we should get back. It's been a long day for us. It was nice seeing you!" She said with a smiled before turning around and running off with a grin.

Deckard watched after her, confusion written all over his face. "But I just got here..."

"Crushes are a waste of time. They only get you hurt." Puppycat grumbled as he was carried back towards their home.

Bee scratched him behind the ear and smiled, "You'll fall in love again Puppycat. Just give it some time." She said softly. She knew he had a rough past but they never talked about it, it would take him a while to heal but he would eventually be able to trust people again.

Puppycat looked up at her before curling up into her arms, ignoring her like usual.
