"Don't-don't try and save me," Dean whispered, his breath ghosting over Cas's cheek.
Cas knelt closer to his friend and tried to press his hand to Dean's neck. Dean grabbed the angels hand and held it tight.
"No, I-I don't want to be saved. I just want to rest. It's been a long and hard fight,"
Tears dripped slowly down Cas's face.
"No-we need you, we're your family!" Cas said, squeezing Dean's hand.
A small smile lifted the corners of the hunter's mouth.
"Gank them bitches for me..."
Dean's words trailed off. Cas knew the imminent was quickly approaching.
"I need you," Cas gasped, "You can't leave me,"
With the last of his strength, Dean lifted their joined hands and kissed Cas's hand.
"Thank you, Castiel, Angel of the Lord, for being my friend. And something more,"
Dean's breath slowed and then stopped. The light that had flared so brightly flickered and then went out.
Cas clutched him to his chest, and cried.
