Prologue - The Now
"Lilith. Get up." A voice rang. The redhead stirred feebly in her bed, idly yawning in a weak protest as she turned to ignore the serious soprano attempting to rouse her from the tendrils of sleep.
"Up, you goddamn idiot. Up!" A slight push to the small of her back caused her to growl and involuntarily swipe behind her with a lazy flick of her arm. Her palm connected with warm skin, but the young woman named Lilith did not heed the confirmation that someone was indeed standing on the side of her bed. It was only when she felt the lobe of her ear being pulled upon that she gave a small cry of pain and shot up, instinctively grabbing the offending hand and tossing it to the side.
"What." She spat, "The hell. Did you do that for?"
"It's ten to eight, you're going to get us late." The voice stated. Blinking, Lilith reorientated herself and found that she was staring into the mirror - or well, at least what she thought was a mirror until she saw the other girl's head shake. She furrowed her considerably thinner brows and scowled, prying the bed sheet off herself and rising to sit on the edge of the bed, taking a few precious minutes to stretch her limbs.
"Joined the poetry club now did you, Angela?" Lilith grumbled. She could feel her twin's agitation rising as she made no move to stand up, "Great, as if I didn't have enough touchy-feely bullshit to bring home from school with me."
"Saying a simple 'Good morning' would've done fine." The other girl named Angela retorted, crossing her arms.
"I'm not wishing the person who barged into my room a good morning." Was the sardonic response. With a final stretch, Lilith stood up and turned to face Angela, wearing an expression of disapproval and above all, tiredness. She placed her hands on her hips, staring at her twin pointedly, who stared back just as annoyed, "Get out."
"You better wake up earlier, stupid moron."
"Then go without me! Jeez, I'm not some kind of life support system that needs to be dragged around."
"You know mom'll be pissed if we don't get on the bus on time."
Lilith rolled her eyes as she made for the door to the hallway, "Oh boo-hoo, mom's gonna be pissed because you wasted your time trying to get me to be a patient little follower. Piss off."
Angela could feel her temper rising, "Do you want to come home with another tardy notice from the teacher?"
"Do I look like I give a damn?" Lilith shot back. Without further ado, the redhead swung the door open and disappeared, leaving Angela fuming beside the messy bed.
"Bitch..." Angela muttered as she followed Lilith, exiting the room just in time to see the bathroom door slam closed. Warily, she trudged past the door and to the opposite end of the hallway, staggering into the bed and planting her face down on the pillow with a sigh, wishing to be pulled into restful slumber.
Just another regular morning for the Pleasant twins...
