THE PROBLEM
Disclaimer: I do not own CSI. I'm 14 and only get $5 allowance every week, so there is no way I can buy them...darn it!
Summary: How will Grissom and Sara react to a life-altering problem?
A/N: Not beta-ed, all mistakes are mine. This was kind of inspired by last Thursday's episode, Empty Eyes. I know it's short...I honestly don't even know why I posted it.
Sara walked down the halls of CSI, searching for Grissom. She walked by his office, but he was not there. She looked in all of the labs, nada. She walked by the break room...bingo! "Catherine, calm down!" she heard him order.
"How can I calm down?" said Catherine's exasperated voice. "Lindsey just asked me if she could get a tattoo! She just got her nose pierced – without my permission, mind you – and I just don't know what's next!"
"Look, just sit her down and have a talk with her," suggested Grissom. "Trust me, it'll work."
"Oh, and this is coming from the man with no kids," snapped Catherine. "You even told me you didn't want kids!"
Sara froze, and her heart hammered in her chest. Tears welled up in her chocolaty eyes, so she tried to sneak past. Unfortunately, Catherine spotted her.
"Hey, Sara, you okay?" the blonde asked. "You don't look so good."
"I'm fine," she lied. "I'm gonna get my stuff then head home...I'm probably just tired. See you next shift."
She swiftly walked to the locker room. She sat down on the bench and pulled her knees up to her chest. The tears she was trying to restrain streamed down her pale cheeks.
"Sara?"
Her head snapped up. She saw Grissom standing there with concern etched onto his face. She tried to wipe away the tears before he saw them, but failed. He rushed up to her and sat down next to her. He wrapped her in a tight embrace and rubbed small, soothing circles on her back.
"Sweetheart, what's wrong?" he asked.
"I'm sorry, really, really sorry," she cried. "We were really careful, we were...but not careful enough!"
"Sara, honey, you're not making any sense," he said. "What happened?"
"I-I'm pregnant!" she whispered fearfully, not daring to look at him.
He froze, lifted her chin so she was looking into his eyes, and said, "So, I'm going to be a dad?"
She nodded, and he surprised her by smiling.
"Honey, this is great!" he exclaimed. "I've always dreamed of having a family with you!"
"But, you told Catherine that you didn't want kids," said Sara, furrowing her brows in confusion.
"I told her that before I got into a relationship with you," he said. "Now I can't wait to be a dad!"
For the first time in a few weeks, her fear was gone.
"How far along are you?" he asked.
"Roughly three months," she whispered.
His jaw dropped.
"I'm sorry, I wanted to tell you earlier...but I was scared," she explained quickly. "I'm sorry, please forgive me."
"It's okay, hon," he said. "I will stick by your side through everything. You won't be alone, I promise."
She smiled and thought to herself, 'Maybe I actually can do this!'
A/N: As I said, this was inspired by Empty Eyes. I definitely noticed a bump when she was talking to Hodges, didn't you? Anyway, review if you liked it, review if you hated it.
